Have you ever felt fine emotionally, but your body seems to be telling a completely different story? 🌿✨
Our bodies hold onto trauma long after our minds have healed and the event itself has passed. Even when we feel mentally grounded, our cells "remember." That stored energy often shows up physically as:
Unexplained aches and discomfort
Sudden waves of anxiety out of nowhere
Frequent headaches or nerve pain
A sensation like your body is vibrating for no apparent reason
Deep-seated restlessness
If you’ve been feeling any of this, you are not going crazy, and you are not imagining it.
Massage, bodywork, exercise, and energy work (like Reiki) give your physical body a path to release these trapped emotions. Once you recognize what's happening, your consciousness can step in, helping your nervous system calm down so you can safely sit with and process those feelings. Massage especially allows your central nervous system to take a much-needed "break" and reboot the mind-body connection.
Even as a massage therapist with over 16 years of experience, I still fall into this trap! With the upcoming anniversary of my mother's passing, I’ve been experiencing this firsthand. Mentally, I am in a space of acceptance and peace. But my body hasn't caught up yet, and it took me a full month of physical symptoms to realize what was going on. It’s so easy to recognize this in my clients, but sometimes I can't see the forest for the trees when it comes to myself. We’ve all been there!
As soon as the lightbulb went off, I reached out and scheduled an extra massage alongside my regular monthly routine.
Sometimes we need a little extra support, and that is completely okay. Don't be afraid to put yourself first—taking care of you is how you show up best for everyone else in your life. 🌸

🍎THE KIDS ARE BACK IN SCHOOL!!😁
And if you're a mom, grandma, or childcare provider, you know what that means…
You might actually get to use the bathroom alone.
And maybe—just maybe—you can finally schedule a little time for YOURSELF!
After a summer of being the chauffeur, snack distributor, referee, activity coordinator, and keeper of everyone's schedules… I think you’ve earned it.
With school back in session, my hours have changed slightly!

"Maybe I should get a massage."
"My shoulders are killing me."
"I haven't had an hour to myself in MONTHS."
"I just want someone to stop asking me for snacks."
THIS IS YOUR SIGN.
Now that the kiddos are back in school, take an hour for yourself. Come relax, breathe, and let someone else take care of YOU for a change.
If you'd like to schedule, send me a message and I'll send you my online scheduling link.
And please share this with a mom, grandma, or fellow exhausted human who needs to hear it!
You've spent the summer taking care of everyone else.

Four days. 30 CEUs. And a subject that hits very close to home. ❤️
I’m getting ready to take a class on Hospice Care and Massage Therapy for End-of-Life Doula Care, and I have a feeling this is going to be more than just another continuing education class for me.
After caring for my mom while she was dying, and experiencing hospice firsthand, I realized something I hadn’t really thought about before: not all hospice experiences are equal. So much can depend on the nurse assigned to your loved one, the resources available, and even the county you live in.
Fortunately, my mom had three daughters who were able to be there with her 24/7. We divided our time and stayed with her, caring for her during the last few months of her life. We were incredibly fortunate to have that ability, but it also opened my eyes to how different this experience could be for a family without that kind of support.
When I saw this class being offered, I knew I needed to take it.
Not necessarily because I know where this path will lead me professionally, but because I wanted to learn more for myself. I wanted to better understand hospice, end-of-life care, what families can expect, what resources are available, and what might have been different during my mom’s experience.
More than two years after her death, I’m able to look back and feel incredibly thankful for the time we had with her and the care we were able to provide. At the same time, I still carry some frustration about the things that were lacking and the things I wish we had known.
Maybe this class will lead me somewhere professionally. Maybe it will simply give me a deeper understanding that I can carry into my personal life and the lives of the people I serve.
Either way, I’m going to follow my intuition.
That’s something I’ve always done — both professionally and personally. ❤️
I’m excited, a little curious, and honestly a little emotional to see what these next four days hold for me.
Here’s to continuing to learn, grow, and better understand how we can support people during some of the most important moments of their lives. 🕊️

Is a 30-Minute Massage Right for You?
Have you been thinking about booking a massage, but you're just not sure if massage is right for you?
That’s exactly where a 30-minute session can be a great place to start.
A shorter appointment can be especially helpful if:
✨ You have a specific area of concern you'd like to focus on
✨ You're new to massage and aren't sure what to expect
✨ You want to see how your body responds before committing to a longer session
✨ You have a particular goal and don't feel you need a full-body massage
For example, I have a client coming in today who had reconstructive shoulder surgery more than five years ago and is still experiencing pain. After a brief phone consultation, I suggested starting with a 30-minute appointment so we can assess how their body responds and determine whether massage may be beneficial.
And if I don't feel that my skills are the right approach for their particular situation, that's okay too. I have a network of massage therapists and other professionals I trust, and I can help point them in the right direction.
Sometimes taking that first step doesn't have to mean booking a 60 or 90-minute massage.
If you've been thinking about making an appointment but something has been holding you back, why not start with 30 minutes?

"How we do anything is how we do everything."
This has become one of my favorite quotes from The Business of You, and it has had me reflecting on how I show up—not just as a massage therapist, but as a business owner and as a person.
Have you ever thought about how your massage therapist prepares for your appointment?
Long before my first client walks through the door, I'm already thinking about the people I'll see that day. I'm reviewing intake forms, reflecting on previous sessions, and considering what each person may need when they arrive.
When I'm working from my home studio, I begin preparing about two hours before my first appointment. My hot towel cabi is turned on so neck and back wraps are perfectly warm. Towels are heated to just the right temperature. The massage table is adjusted, the room is cleaned, and I choose an essential oil for the diffuser that creates the atmosphere I want my clients to experience.
For the past 17 years, I've maintained one personal standard: I arrive at least 30 minutes before my first client. No one wants a massage therapist who feels rushed, flustered, or stressed. I'm always mindful that my mindset and energy can influence the people I work with, so taking the time to prepare is just as important as the massage itself.
Over the past year, I've spent a lot of time reflecting on my business. I realized that while I had always worked hard, I had never truly defined exactly what I wanted my practice to look and feel like. Once I created that vision, every decision became easier.
One lesson I've learned is that trying to be everything to everyone simply doesn't work. Every massage therapist brings different strengths, techniques, and perspectives. Sometimes we need different therapists at different times in our lives—and that's okay. In fact, I currently see two different massage therapists myself because they each offer something unique that supports my own well-being. Shout out to Barbara Dayton (The Relaxation Station) and Heather Walker (Soothing Touch Massage).
I truly believe the clients who find me are the ones I'm meant to work with.
A quote from The 5 Laws of Stratospheric Success that has stayed with me is the law of Value:
"Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment."
That perfectly describes the kind of practice I'm striving to build.
So I'll leave you with this question...
When you choose someone to help care for your well-being, have you ever wondered what their personal standards are? How do they prepare for your appointment? What thought goes into your experience before you even walk through the door?
For me, those questions are almost always running in the background. I'm constantly asking myself:
"How can I make my clients' experience even better?"
Because I believe the massage begins long before my hands ever touch the table. 💚

Have you ever wondered what Lymphatic Drainage Massage (LDM) actually is?
Many women come to me thinking it will feel like a traditional massage—but LDM is a completely different experience.
✨ It is light, gentle, and deeply relaxing.
Rather than using long strokes or deep pressure, lymphatic drainage massage uses slow, repetitive movements performed at a very specific speed, rhythm, and pressure. These gentle techniques mimic the natural rhythm of your lymphatic system.
Your lymphatic system plays an important role in your body's immune function. It helps move excess fluid, waste products, and cellular debris out of your tissues and through your lymph nodes, where they are filtered by specialized immune cells called lymphocytes.
During an LDM session, I gently stretch the skin in specific directions. These movements help encourage fluid to enter the tiny initial lymphatic vessels while also stimulating the lymphatic vessels to contract and move that fluid through the body.
One of my favorite benefits of LDM is how incredibly calming it is.
The slow, repetitive movements help shift your body out of its "fight or flight" response and into the parasympathetic ("rest and restore") state. As this happens, your breathing slows, your muscles soften, your heart rate decreases, and your body has the opportunity to focus on healing and restoration.
💛 Lymphatic Drainage Massage is never meant to be painful. In fact, if you've been avoiding it because you thought "more pressure means better results," it's quite the opposite. The lymphatic vessels are located just beneath the skin, so a gentle touch is exactly what's needed.
If you've been experiencing swelling, fluid retention, feelings of heaviness, recovering from surgery (with your physician's approval), or you're simply looking for a restorative treatment that supports your body's natural processes, LDM may be worth exploring.
Healing doesn't always require deeper pressure. Sometimes the gentlest touch creates the greatest change.

☀ What have you been learning this summer?
One of the things I love most about being a massage therapist is that learning never stops. Whether it's exploring new research, gaining additional skills, or challenging my own perspectives, every book, podcast, and class helps me better serve the women who trust me with their care.
📚Books I've finished:
Raving Fans - Ken Blanchard & Sheldon Bowles
The Go-Giver - Bob Burg & John David Mann
Getting Naked - Patrick Lencioni
📻A Few of the podcasts that have made me more curious!

🤍 Growing a baby is beautiful... and it's hard work, too.
Pregnancy brings so many incredible changes, but it can also bring sore hips, aching backs, swollen feet, restless sleep, and muscles that never seem to get a break.
A prenatal massage is more than just time to relax—it's time to care for you while you're caring for your little one.
✨ Benefits of prenatal massage may include:
• Relief from back, hip, and neck pain
• Reduced swelling in hands and feet
• Improved circulation
• Better sleep
• Less stress and muscle tension
• A peaceful moment to simply breathe
Your comfort and safety are always my priority. I use a specialized prenatal bolster that allows most moms-to-be to comfortably lie face down well into pregnancy, or we can adjust to a side-lying position, whatever feels best for you.
Whether you're preparing for your first baby or your fourth, you deserve to feel supported every step of the way.
💕 If you're expecting and wondering if prenatal massage is right for you, I'd be happy to answer your questions. Client pictured is approx. 36-37 weeks pregnant!
