RJ’s Recovery

*Update* last week marked 1 month of RJ being back in school. He’s is currently getting straight A’s, and is thriving in every avenue.

Our RJ got the clear on no more physical therapy, and is enjoying his weekend before his first day back to school on Monday. We want to thank everyone for all their kindness.

RJ’s personality is shinning thru today. Blessed to still have him with us.

RJ’s first visit with the TBI clinic is today for those who may still be following.

Good morning! I have not posted on here in a long time and I apologize. RJ was released from the hospital on November 1. He came home and had a decent weekend. He tried to go to school for two days. He is on half days right now because of the TBI. The first day he did okay. He tried to run, but they were able to contain him in a room. The second day he had a good day, but was disappointed about not being able to stay the whole day. That same evening RJ became triggered and agitated. We eventually had to call the police and crisis line. RJ was admitted into a mental facility that evening where he stayed for 10 days. Ruben and I have been tirelessly working to find help for RJ. The hospital did NOT follow through with the help they promised and we are hitting walls everywhere we turn. Thank you for continuing to check in and your continued prayers. RJ graduated intense physical therapy, and went to a step down rehab today !!! This kid is a fighter. Thank you all for the prayers as that has played a significant role in his recovery. Sunday is his birthday if anyone would like to come wish him a Happy 9th Birthday.

Good evening!! RJ is continuing to do so well. He has had two full days of intense rehab and he has taken it on with, motivation, strength and bravery. He is definitely worn out by the end of the day and sleeping very comfortably at night. We are still paying close attention to his traumatic brain injury he is often forgetful slow to respond and confused. This is all very normal for a traumatic brain injury with RJ doing so well Ruben and I have decided to take the night off. We are going to stay at home tonight we are going to get some food, and spend some much needed time with each other. I am going to shut my phone off. Ruben will put his phone on silent and put it in a different room in case there are any emergencies. Please continue to pray and thank you so much for your support.

Good morning. Thank you again for the continued prayers. RJ is doing really well. He is up walking and only needs a little assistance. Right now we are mainly dealing with the brain injury. RJ is very confused, and is going through episodes of highs and lows. The past few days he has been very high emotionally. Ruben Mangham and I continue to be with RJ and we are so proud of the progress he has made and continues to make. He definitely is a strong boy!!
