What happens after a Lymphatic Drainage treatment?

Most clients report feeling "lighter" and tired after their treatment. Some notice detox symptoms such as mild headache or nausea but most just feel tired.

The following day clients report great sleep and more energy.

Some also notice an increase in bowel movements and urination because the body is eliminating toxins moved from the lymph system.

After the treatment your body will continue to process the lymph we move for up to 48hrs. Make sure to stay hydrated and rest when tired to let your body do it's work!

This is a great visual to help see the direction lymph flows in the body!

When dry brushing at home, spending extra time around your collar bones, armpits, abdomen, groin and back of the knees (areas with a lot of lymph nodes) can help enhance the effect of your dry brushing session!

Exercise is a great way to encourage lymph flow at home.
Physical activity encourages fluid to drain into the lymphatic system in the abdomen.

It doesn't have to be an intense workout to help either - rebounding, walking, swimming, yoga, pilates and Tai chi all help encourage the lymph to move.

The more you move the better your lymph flows!

We have a few new followers so I thought it would be a good time to introduce myself! I'm Lexi, I own and operate Kalon Spa.

I am a massage therapist of over 10 years and have specialized in Lymphatic Drainage for 5 of those.

I love working with clients to reduce chronic pain, recover from surgery, detox, and reduce symptoms of autoimmune and other chronic illnesses. I use a combination of massage, lymphatic drainage and cupping techniques to achieve my clients' health and wellness goals.

Educating people about their lymphatic system is a huge passion of mine so if you have any questions feel free to ask!

Signs of a congested Lymphatic System:

✨Soreness/Stiffness – If you frequently feel sore or stiff or have lingering pain or tightness that cannot be explained.

✨Headaches – Inadequate lymphatic and sinus drainage creates inflammation and pressure which causes headaches.

✨Bloating and digestive issues – The lymphatic fluid from the lower body and reproductive organs connects with the digestive lymphatic vessels in the abdomen. This region has the largest node in the body and filters proteins and fats from our digestive process. Constipation and irregular bowel movements is a common symptom of congested lymph as are food sensitivities.

✨Fatigue/Stress – Chronic fatigue is known to last at least 6 months and interfere with your daily activities and social life. Those suffering from chronic fatigue and/or stress tend to have impaired lymph drainage which accumulates toxins affecting all of the body systems. Improving lymph drainage may be a key factor to feeling better since it is not treatable with rest.

✨Skin problems – Dry or itchy skin, loss of elasticity, premature aging, acne, rashes, and many other skin conditions may suggest a sluggish lymphatic system. Approximately 70% of our lymph system resides directly under the skin and is vital for skin health.

✨Swelling – If your limbs are swollen you may experience aching, heaviness, difficulty with movement, repeated skin infections, different skin texture, folds developing in the skin, and pitting.

✨Allergies – Repeated sinus infections, worsening allergies, and an increased occurrence of head colds are signs that your lymphatic fluid is not effectively moving. The feeling of having a stuffy nose, congestion, and lots of mucous are symptoms of a backed up lymphatic system.

✨Brain fog – If the lymph fluid is not draining, toxins build up in old cerebrospinal fluid and causes you to feel exhausted, confused, and slow. Likewise, depression, anxiety, and mood swings have been tied to clogged lymphatics.

Did you know that soaking in hot springs can be a great way to naturally detox your skin?!
Thanks to the high amount of silica in the water, it can also soften rough or dry skin.
Plus, the mineral content of sulfur springs has been shown to help persisting skin conditions like psoriasis, acne and eczema.

I want to get out and check out some of the natural hot springs around Idaho Falls but I would love some recommendations! Tell me your favorite and why you love it in the comments 👙
