10 month difference on starter locs I did on one of my friends☺️
I am very happy with how they are locking up
When I started them back in November 2021 we talked about part size and how that would affect the size of the loc once it matures and Im really happy to see how they are turning out!
Yall know me, the health of the locs come first❤️

No one’s hair texture is exactly the same as someone else’s. Your locs may not come out looking exactly like your inspiration photos, and that’s okay, because your hair has it’s own personal fingerprint.
Let that empower you to completely love how YOUR hair transitions and don’t compare. There’s no need to. You’re unique 👑💛

Watching my clients locs grow and thicken up is what I do it for. She’s been with me for over a year now and I’m pleased to say we have been doing well with keeping the build up out!
Guys, there is no product out there that makes your hair loc up. Stop putting products in your locs! Your hair will loc naturally. If you leave it alone, it will loc. Trust and believe in the process
The reason why; when it comes to locs, anything we put in our hair STAYS in our hair. Just washing your hair will NOT remove the products you put in it. So my point is that grease, locking gel, soufflés, jams, etc are not necessary and WILL actually cause you stress in the long run. A detox will be needed if you keep allowing people to put these things in your hair.
I try to be as straight forward as possible when it comes to this because I’ve had so many people come to me with massive amounts of product in their locs and I want to help put a stop to it.
Also, if you look at who the owners of these companies are that sell the lock and twisting products they are not black. Which proves my point. They do not know what OUR hair needs. They are just taking your money.
As always I allowed her hair to air dry which is why the clips are still in.
Photos of product build up coming soon

Simple retwist ✨

I do not believe in using dryers so, I allow my clients to leave with their clips in so the hair can air dry.
Dryers dry out your locs and lead to breakage.
Air drying is a more natural and holistic way that doesn’t leave any damage.

Bantu knots on short locs before and after ✨

Do you see all that healthy, thick new growth on my clients’ head before we got started. I live for new growth!

Of course no products were used in the making of these Bantu knots. Products cause buildup in locs and are not needed.

I actually kind of miss my little baby locs lol they were sooo cute. This was April of 2019 so I was about 7 months in and I was actually starting to see my hair budding up and getting NATTY.

Guys, do not worry about the frizz. Do not worry about the new growth. It’s literally supposed to happen. That is how locs are formed. Be grateful that you have hair on your head, and stop being so obsessed with this laid down, perfect, every hair strand in place look. It is not realistic with locs and could cause you damage in the long run. Don’t believe me? Do some research✨

FYI I make these posts to educate not to make anyone feel bad. Black hair is something that I am passionate about, and actually enjoy learning about. Helping others along the way is a plus. I follow everything that I preach, and like to be an example of black, liberated, hair.

I started my own locs with 2-strand twist almost 3 years ago
I think I was about 2 months in in the second picture.
How’d you start yours?
