What is Créme Fraiche?
Créme Fraiche is France's answer to sour cream. But it's tangy rather than sour, and richer. It can be used to make amazing butter and ice cream; won't curdle or break when heated; and can be used anywhere you use sour cream, like on baked potatoes or in sauces. It is also mesopholic, meaning it will culture right on your counter top. No yogurt maker required! It's normally more expensive than sour cream, but not when you culture your own.
