One of the biggest mistakes people make after dermaplaning is focusing only on the exfoliation step and forgetting about recovery.

When you remove dead skin cells and peach fuzz, your skin is temporarily more vulnerable to moisture loss and irritation. That's why what you apply immediately afterward matters just as much as the dermaplaning itself.

Look for ingredients that help calm the appearance of redness, support the skin barrier, and replenish hydration without feeling heavy or occlusive. Azulene is a favorite for post-treatment care because of its soothing, cooling properties, making it especially beneficial for skin that tends to become pink or sensitive after exfoliation.

Healthy skin isn't just about removing what doesn't belong—it's about giving your skin what it needs afterward to stay balanced, hydrated, and glowing. ✨

If your morning skincare routine feels like a race against the clock, your sunscreen should be doing more than just providing SPF.

One of the biggest mistakes I see is treating sunscreen as a separate step from skincare. The best sunscreens today don't just protect your skin—they hydrate, nourish, support your skin barrier, deliver antioxidants, and even include peptides and other anti-aging ingredients.

That's why I'm such a fan of Korean sunscreens. They're designed to be true multitaskers. Whether your skin is dry, oily, acne-prone, sensitive, or mature, there are formulas that can give you broad-spectrum SPF 50 protection while also helping your skin look and feel healthier.

Another thing I love? Modern formulas disappear into the skin beautifully. No heavy, greasy feeling. No chalky white cast. Just protection, hydration, and a great base for makeup.

If you're short on time in the morning, focus on finding a sunscreen that works as both skincare and sun protection. One step can make a big difference when it's packed with the right ingredients.

Remember: consistency beats complexity every time. If you wear sunscreen every day, you're already doing one of the best things possible for your skin's long-term health and appearance. ☀️

Azulene is having a big moment in K-beauty right now, but it's actually an ingredient I've been recommending for years. 💜

So, what is it?

Azulene (also called guaiazulene) is a calming extract derived from chamomile. It's naturally rich in antioxidants and known for its powerful soothing properties, which is why you'll often find it in products designed for sensitive, irritated, or post-treatment skin.

The reason it's so important in skincare is simple: so many skin concerns are rooted in inflammation. Redness, irritation, breakouts, sensitivity, and even a compromised skin barrier can all benefit from ingredients that help calm the skin.

When I see a client whose skin is stressed out, reactive, or just not looking its best, I don't always reach for stronger actives. Sometimes the best thing you can do is support the skin with ingredients that help it recover.

That's where Azulene shines. ✨

Have you tried Azulene yet? I'd love to hear about your experience in the comments.

If you've been looking for a simple way to tackle dark spots, acne, dullness, and signs of aging all at once, I want to share one of my favorites: the In the Clear Mandelic Exfoliating Pads.

What makes these pads so effective is that they give you a double exfoliation.

First, the mandelic acid gets to work dissolving excess oil and lifting pigmentation. Then, after you've wiped your face you can flip the pad over and use the textured side for gentle manual exfoliation.

Pro Tip: Just be extra gentle on the neck area where the skin is thinner.

I love mandelic acid because it's derived from almonds and does an
amazing job cutting through oily, congested skin while being gentler than many other exfoliating acids.

If you want an easy way to get both chemical and manual exfoliation, these pads are hard to beat.

I love makeup, so anytime I find a product that helps my skin AND helps my makeup look better, I'm all in. ✨

This new Hypochlorous Acid Spray from KRX has quickly become one of those products.

It contains hypochlorous acid—the same molecule your body naturally produces to help calm inflammation and support healing. If your skin gets red, reactive, or stressed from the environment, this is such a refreshing step to add to your routine.

It works beautifully as a setting spray throughout the day. Think of it as a little extra support for your skin barrier while helping protect against everyday environmental irritants.

Plus, it's packed with soothing ingredients and antioxidants, so your skin feels hydrated and comfortable—not tight or stripped.

K-beauty always seems to be ahead of the curve, and this is one trend I'm very happy to see catching on. 💙

There’s a lot of buzz right now about skin barrier repair.

You aren’t alone if you aren’t quite sure what it is, if you need it, or what products to use to repair your barrier.

The need to repair your skin isn’t anything new. In fact, it’s at the heart of what I do as a Master Esthetician. That said, facials aren’t enough to keep your skin healthy, smooth, and resilient.

As an esthetician, I have an assignment before the weekend officially begins. 😂

Get outside. Enjoy yourself. Make some memories. Drink your water.

And please, please wear your sunscreen. ☀️

I don’t care if you’re gardening, sitting at a ball game, running errands, walking the dog, or just driving around town. Those UV rays are working overtime this time of year.

Protecting your skin doesn’t have to be complicated. A good SPF is one of the best anti-aging products you’ll ever use.

Now go have a wonderful weekend—and don’t make me ask if you’ve reapplied. ☀️✨

What’s on your agenda this weekend?

Esthetician's Rule #1 ✨

Massage every 1–2 weeks if that's all you can fit in. It doesn't have to be complicated or time-consuming. Consistent, focused work on those stubborn areas is what creates real, lasting change over time. 💆‍♀️💫

It's usually not the dramatic things that make the biggest difference—it's the simple things you do regularly.

Who am I kidding... we have more than one rule. 😄💛

Irritated skin doesn't need more aggression—it needs more support.

That's one reason I'm so excited to see Azulene having a moment in K-beauty right now. I've been using it for years on clients with redness, sensitivity, post-treatment irritation, and stressed-out skin because it helps calm things down fast.

What makes this formula even more special is the 86% green tea water.

Together, these ingredients help soothe irritation, support the skin barrier, reduce the appearance of blemishes, and give skin that comfortable, hydrated feeling we're all after.

If your skin is feeling red, reactive, dehydrated, or just "off," sometimes the answer isn't another active—it's a product that helps your skin recover.

One of the biggest skincare mistakes I see isn't using the wrong serum or skipping a treatment—it's investing in your skin and then unintentionally undoing the results.

After more than 25 years as an esthetician, I've learned that consistency always wins. The devices, the serums, the facial massage, the treatments... they all work best when your skin isn't constantly being forced to recover from preventable damage.

Think of sunscreen as protecting your investment. Every minute you spend caring for your skin matters, and daily sun protection helps ensure those efforts can actually pay off.

That doesn't mean avoiding life or staying indoors. Go on the vacation. Sit by the pool. Enjoy the sunshine. Just make sun protection part of the plan.

Healthy, resilient, glowing skin isn't usually about doing more. It's about stopping the things that keep getting in the way of your progress.
