Fund raising is going so well, thanks you so much! I wanted to add a rewards system that meant as much to you as the donations mean to me. When I am back behind the chair, I will provide the following:
- For every $5,000 we raise, I’ll spend a day at a homeless shelter doing haircuts for free,
- At the increments of $20,000, $30,000 and $40,000, I will pick a donor at random to receive any service combination they’d like,
- If we reach the goal of $50,000 I will color my hair in any odd combination (let’s say Carmel High School colors) and have the appropriate cut to match, to be chosen by a donor at random.
- If we surpass the goal of $50,000 and reach $60,000 or more in donations, I will give a donor chosen at random, free services for a year.
Thank you so much for your financial support, but even more so your prayers and well wishes. You will never know how much it means to me.
Love,
Todd

My name's Todd, I am an independant hairstylist. I've spent the past ten years making people feel good about themselves and it been a pure pleasure, and by no means a job.
I recently found out I'm going to need a Heart Transplant. Throughout much of this time I will be under 24/7 critical care. What all this means is for the next couple of years I'm going to have to quit working and spend a lot of time in the hospital - not doing hair, and not doing a lot of the things I love.
So I guess this ammounts to digital pan handling...
Costs Associated with a Heart Transplant:
The cost of a heart transplant, including preliminary testing, the surgery itself and post-operative recovery costs vary across the country. These costs start to add up, even before your transplant. Therefore, patients commonly rely on several sources to help pay for their medical and non-medical costs of pre- and post-transplantation.
The good news is I have been approved for SNAP (food stamps) and Medicaid. I'm still working with a lawyer on my disabiliy application. I've found out that these bennefits could take up to six months to take effect.
Medical Costs
- insurance deductibles
- insurance co-pays
- pre-transplant evaluation and testing
- pre-transplant surgery
- transplant surgery
- fees for the recovery of the organ from the donor
- follow-up care and testing
- additional hospital stays for complications
- fees for surgeons, physicians, radiologist, anesthesiologist and recurrent lab testing
- anti-rejection and other drugs, which can easily exceed $2,500 per month
- rehabilitation
Non-Medical Costs:
- transportation, to and from your transplant center, before and after your transplant
- plane travel to get to your transplant hospital quickly
- lost wages if your employer does not pay for the time you or - - a family member spends away from work
- utilities, rent, etc.
I know many of you have donated already and I so greatly appreciated it, but any additional help would be greatly appreciated, and maybe you could share my story with your friends. Maybe we could make this thing go viral? No cold buckets of ice water required
While I still feel a little uncomfortable about the idea of asking for hand outs, THANK SO SO SO SO MUCH!
Love, Todd.

Medical Update: Just wanted to let everyone know that my second swan port surgery has been successful so far. During the first surgery the line going through my pulmonary artery went a little too deep. It’s my understand this could have caused a puncture in my lung, but the doctors and nurses at IU were on top of it and caught it right away. I had the second surgery yesterday and so far everything looks good. I’m still listed 1A for a heart transplant - there’s no telling how long it might take for a heart to become available but I’ll be living in the hospital until that time. As scary as this type of surgery is, I’m ready to get it over with and one my way to cutting hair again! Thanks again for everyones support!!!
Medical Update: Just wanted to let everyone know that the swan port surgery i had last night wasn't completely successful. The balloon is approaching my heart a little too closely so I am ion back into the cath lab very soon to have the port pulled and the surgery redone. I'll be pretty groggy afterwords but I'll try and post an update when possible.

Medical Update:I had my Doctors appointment yesterday with the defibrillator implant surgeon and we have decided we are definitely going through with the procedure. At this point I'm just waiting for them to call back to schedule the specific surgery date - most likely in the next four weeks (probably and a early birthday present). I have to say the worst part of this whole project is not knowing exactly what date anything is going to happen. It a wait and see game that this Virgo is not very good at playing... In the mean time I will continue to tackle my disability claims, which probably will induce heart failure with their complexity.
Update: Just wanted to let you guys know that to save on some expenses I canceled my business line today. If for any reason you need to reach me, please use my personal number 317-603-7282
