On Peace Officers Memorial Day, we honor the memory of Mark Meadows. It was an honor to know you and a privilege to call you our friend. May the Lord bring peace, comfort, and strength to those you left behind.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a bill into law that created Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15 of every year. Today, we remember the seven SSPBA members we lost in the line of duty in 2025. We are proud to have had you as members and deeply saddened to lose you. May God continue to comfort those you left behind. May He bring them peace and strength to continue their journey.

Katherine Hoffman is a talented barber at Art’s Barber Shop, known for her fabulous haircuts every day. Beyond her craft, she gives back to the community in countless ways. Katherine has been a Heidi’s Kids volunteer since she was 4 years old, dedicating her time to events like Boo Bash, National Night Out and I Love Irondale Day. She also helps oversee donations to the food closet that stocks the Blessing Box weekly. This year, Katherine personally selected clothes and gifts for over 20 children in the Irondale school system during our Christmas program. Katherine is truly a treasure, and we are so grateful to celebrate her. Thank you for being a blessing!

Candice Atkisson has been a part of Arts Barber Shop for five years and has truly become a valued member of the community. Always ready with a helping hand or a warm hug, Candice selflessly volunteers her time at many community events such as Boo Bash, National Night Out, and more. She partners with Heidi’s Kids by receiving donations and helping stock the Blessing Box weekly. Her contagious laughter brightens our community, and we are so grateful to have her. What a wonderful blessing she is!
