Cribs: Guinea Pig Edition

We got two piggies during the first lockdown. During this lockdown I expanded their cage and added a loft. I tried building a ramp but it didn’t turn out as planned, I’ll stick to my day job 🤣

Wish you were hair ✨ I’m so thankful for the 7 whole weeks behind the chair, I’m hoping this time we don’t get shut down for long 🤞Now off to rescue my salon plants and grab product for color kits!

💭I remember when I was an assistant I would mix the same color formula A LOT! I swore right then and there that I would make it an effort to customize each clients formula. This lovely head of hair is almost 100% gray. I add ASH tones to cool down her formula. Ash doesn’t always mean gray or muddy color. In this case it means she doesn’t have warm or brassy tones in her color which can look more unnatural against her mature skin. After color, I gave her a hair cut with a slight disconnection to add movement and texture to her fine hair. ✨

💯% This one of those times I really regret not taking a before photo! treatment plus a few foils around the hair line. Then we went over her highlights with and added more to the color. Her hair felt and looks so much healthier!

This is what the last post looks like without the extensions. I disconnected the fringe from the rest of the cut to give her a twist and different styling options. Thank you for always letting me get creative 💕

🔹SHIBORI🔹Sometime in 2019 I told (aka ) that I wanted to do a hair project inspired by patterns. I never got around to it though. Post lockdown I was determined to put more energy into projects that bring me creative joy. So one night I started working on some clip in extensions to bring my concept to life. I used multiple shades of blues and black from and to mimic the depth from indigo dyes. Alex came in for her cut, I applied to extension piece, and then we had a distanced photoshoot outside of Phenix suites. I’m pretty stoked with how this turned out 🥰

Henna in the house!! Long post ahead....My long time client decided it was time for a change. I have only cut her hair so I was excited when she said she wanted me to do her color. I knew we wouldn’t be able to remove the coppery henna on her hair so we used to cover her grays and let the henna grow out. It has been about a year since we started doing that and she asked me if we could change her color again and transition to a shade of blonde. I said yes but there was no guarantee to what the end result would be, and agreed to only do the top half of her head to have more control. We discussed what colors she liked and then proceeded to use DDL to remove the purple from her hair. The purple came out so beautifully and seamlessly!! But the ends still had henna on them and the color would not budge! They were this pinkish reddish color so we worked with it! I applied purple to the underneath section (she still loves purple!) and on the section above I added foils for the pink highlights and applied an ash blonde shade in between. I’m pretty proud of the end result and she is very happy with it as well! Swipe to see what her hair looked like when she came in (you can see the henna on the ends and I’m pretty amazed at how well that purple held up in her hair!). I am living for all these fun color jobs I’ve had the pleasure of doing since coming back!!! 💖💖💖💖 @ Irvine, California

Babylights, base retouch, toner and a fresh new cut ✂️ The finer highlights help blend in the grays as they grow in, while keeping the all over color on the bronde side (versus blonde). So fresh and shiiiiny!

Disinfection⚡️after each guest I thoroughly saturate every surface with spray. I love this spray because it works in one minute, it’s eco-friendly, and safe for me! I spray disinfectant on my shears and clippers. I clean my clips, combs and brushes and then submerge them in . Ahhh so fresh and so clean✨

One cut, one color placement, THREE ways to wear it ⚡️ We kept most of the lockdown growth on top, disconnected the sides and cut that off. Bleach, tone, unicorn kisses, and voila!

💖I am soooooo grateful for the amazing humans who let me do their hair!!💖 @ Pengo Drink Station
