We must Never Forget 🇺🇸

Tomorrow is the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. I attend Borough of Manhattan Community College in Tribeca, and this tragedy is particularly personal for the BMCC community. One of our buildings became heavily damaged after the collapse of The World Trade Center, and was rendered unusable. It took until 2012 for it to be rebuilt and reopened. Many faculty members recall this day 25 years ago and continue to process their grief from it. Being born after this tragedy, and learning about it all through school, it’s easy to wonder “What can we do?” It’s tempting to look at September 11th as a day that happened far in the past. In actuality, 25 years is not a long time. This devastation is incredibly fresh in the minds and hearts of New Yorkers and all Americans. What can we do? Speak to those who remember living through 9/11, hear their stories, hold them through their grief and never forget. Support your local firefighters, thank them for their bravery and compassion, and try to carry those same values in your daily life.

I invite anyone to attend BMCC’s 25th anniversary commemoration via livestream. Remember, reflect, and join together to lift one another up in solidarity. ❤️‍🩹🇺🇸

Congratulations Ellie who graduated yesterday from Schalmont High School. Ellie will be attending UAlbany in the fall. We are very proud of our teen and all she has accomplished. Go Ellie!!! 👩‍🎓
