Saturday I was honored to be named Stylist of the Year and I am still taking it all in.
First and always all honor goes to God. Without Him none of this exists. Every gift, every client, every late night, every idea started with Him.
To everyone who took the time to call, text, post, or say my name thank you. In a city full of talent, to even be mentioned is big. To be recognized statewide is wild. BeautEE Couture standing in that moment was humbling and honestly surreal. Somebody believed in my work and that means everything.
This award is for my kids. Period. Yall deserve the standing ovation. You sacrificed the most. The long days, late nights, road trips after work, drive thru dinners, and the famous just give me five more minutes. Thank you for understanding when mommy had to work late, think big, and chase a vision you could not always see. Everything I do is for you and because of you.
And yes I want to thank myself too. Fourteen years as a salon owner. A 22 year old stepping out on faith. I showed up when it was hard. I stayed consistent when it was quiet. I kept going when nobody was clapping. I learned, failed, learned again, and never took my hands or heart out of this work. That deserves acknowledgment.
To my clients, my village, my supporters thank you for trusting me with your hair, your stories, and your confidence. Thank you for choosing me and fitting me into your budget. I do not take that lightly.
If this inspires someone to start, do it. I started young, broke, and clueless and I am still here making a difference.
Mississippi thank you for the love. This award is bigger than hair. It is about faith, family, and not quitting. I appreciate you all.
