Seasons are changing!

My uncle recently told me quitting while you're ahead isn't the same as quitting. That helped give me further confirmation to step away from behind the chair (God was first!). I've been a hair stylist for 14 years, 9 of which have been full-time.

Being a hair stylist and having my salon was always a dream of mine. I'm so grateful to God that I've been able to accomplish both, but seasons are changing! I'm excited to go back to the workforce. I'm going back home! Thee, here I come😁

I always knew hair was a dream, but it wasn't my end game! Honestly, I gave myself 6 more years before I stopped, but God said no mam I got this!!
While I have enjoyed every moment (ups and downs), I keep getting the question of why I'm leaving. Here's a few reasons why that most hair stylist, or business owners in general, don't talk about....

1. No paid time off- if I don't work, I don't eat!

2. Wear and tear on the body- it's a lot coming home everyday with back, feet and hand/wrist pains.

3. More time with my baby- no explanation needed. Mom guilt is real!

4. Drained- you become mentally burnt out.

5. Inconsistent financially- I understand life happens, but when you constantly have to reschedule or cancel at the last minute, that hurts my bottom line. Somebody else could've had that spot. My bills are still due.

6. Benefits- I had to drop my health insurance at the end of 2025 because it almost quadrupled.

When you no longer have that passion that drove you to get up and go everyday, all of these reasons magnify!
