Are you a hard sleeper and wake up with knots in your hair, have long locks that tangle easily or do you have extensions? Check these tips for an easier morning routine thats a little less painful.

Don’t go to bed with wet hair. Wet hair is naturally more elastic, causing it to easily stretch, possibly leading to breakage. The combination of wet hair and a damp pillow can cause yeast to flourish which could lead to dandruff.

Sleep with your dry hair in a low loose side ponytail or braid. Tie it back with a silk or satin scrunchie. This helps your hair from being disheveled and wild, causing tangles when you toss and turn.

Use a satin or silk pillow case. The gentle material has similar benefits as tying your hair back, not to mention how great it is for your skin and helps to prevent wrinkles.

“My hair won’t hold a curl!!”

Oh how many times we have heard this in the salon! If we had to bet, your hair actually CAN hold a curl! Here are some tips to help you achieve those curls you’re going for:

⚡️First up- the cut! Thick and heavy hair, weight in the wrong areas, or dead ends, can pull your curls down and cause them to go flat. Removing some excess bulk and cleaning up the ends, helps create movement and texture to help you create bouncy waves.

✨Next, products! How are you prepping your hair? It starts in the shower. Super heavy shampoos and conditioners can work against you. Try something lighter for the days you use a curling iron. Don’t skip out on products that add texture, grip and memory. Think volume mousse, salt spray, texture serum and workable hairsprays.

⚡️Final tip. Smaller barrel, smaller sections, tighter curls. Smaller curls can be brushed out for a looser effect, but can help the shape last longer. Start curling closer to your scalp for volume, and a modern look. Where the heat touches 1st, is where your curl will be most dominant.
