Teachers come in for a special treat before the busy year starts.

One of the most common questions we get is what the difference is between Swedish and deep tissue massage.

Swedish massage is generally used when the client wants to focus on relaxation. We use slow, gliding strokes to help increase blood flow and circulation and it will still help alleviate muscle soreness caused by every day activities.

Deep tissue is more therapeutic work, typically used when clients have chronic pain, are in a physically demanding job or participates in physically demanding activities. We work deeper into the muscles to relive tension and loosen up the connecting fascia. It’s great for increasing range of motion, injury recovery and breaking up scar tissue. Since we do use a deeper pressure there might be some discomfort but there should never be a point where the client is in pain.

Every massage is customizable for the specific needs of the client, be sure to communicate any questions or concerns with your therapist before the session.
