As a young girl I did not have the resources to get the latest clothes or the flyest hairstyles. Quite honestly, most times my hair was undone. Having a mother who didn’t know how to do hair was extremely hard but she learned what she could. But after so many years and going through adolescence I wanted to change my style and open up to more varieties. So I learned off YouTube how to do sew ins, quick weaves & protective styles in braids. For years, inconsistently, I had clients come to me because they saw my hair. Not something I wanted to do permanently but it was a nice side hustle! In 2019 in the month of April I made a drastic decision to loc my hair. I had just cut my hair for the last time three months prior and my fro was back. I said I can’t keep cutting my hair everytime something goes on. Loc’n my hair started my healing process and a lot of unwarranted shadow work. April 18th at 12:15 a.m I started doing my hair and coiling it. After seeing my locs the clientele came back in Without advertisement but still initially this isn’t where my heart was. End of 2020 something struck in me to stop sleeping on the hands I’ve been blessed with. I took a stand and been planting seeds since. And improvement is and understatement but progression is always understood and still going.
