Let’s talk about how your skincare might be sabotaging your spray tan.
Certain skincare products can strip, fade, or blotch your tan, even if they’re “gentle” or “natural.” The key is understanding what’s in them and how those ingredients interact with your skin barrier after a tan develops.
🚫 Products to avoid:
- Oil-based cleansers, lotions, or body washes: they break down DHA (the ingredient that gives you that bronze glow).
- Exfoliants or acids (AHAs, BHAs, retinols): they remove the top layer of skin where your tan lives.
- Heavy moisturizers with mineral oil or petroleum: they create a barrier that can cause uneven fading.
✅ What to use instead:
- Sulfate-free, pH-balanced body washes: gentle enough to cleanse without stripping.
- Lightweight, water-based lotions: these keep your skin hydrated and help your tan fade evenly.
- Daily hydration & gentle pat-drying: no rubbing with towels!
Your spray tan is a skincare investment, and the right post-tan routine can help it last up to 10 days (or longer) with an even, radiant fade.
