Ever wondered what a curly cut appointment actually looks like from start to finish?
This is Amelie’s third time in our chair — and every visit looks a little different, because curly hair isn’t static. It grows, it changes, you change. This time she was ready to chop, and we were here for it.
We always start with a real conversation. What’s going on with your curls, what’s working in your routine, what isn’t. Even with clients who really know their hair, there’s always something worth talking through.
Then comes the cut — and this is where curly hair really needs its own approach. We cut dry, which means we can see exactly how your curls are falling and building as we go. Most curly people have more than one curl pattern on their head, and cutting dry lets us see that and work with it instead of against it. The techniques we use are a mix of things we’ve learned and methods we’ve developed over years of working specifically with curly hair.
From there it’s the full experience — a thorough shampoo, thoroughly applying conditioner to make sure every curl is getting what it needs, a nano mist treatment for hydration, and finishing with styling products applied the way your curls actually need them.
For newer clients, we walk you through every single step so you can recreate it at home. For someone like Amelie, it’s more of a check-in — refining what’s already working.
That’s kind of the whole point. You shouldn’t leave here confused about your own hair. Ever.
If you’ve been curious about booking but weren’t sure what to expect — now you know. Link in bio.
I had the absolute pleasure of being interviewed by recently. Here is a little snippet from that, and I will post links the the full YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts in the comments.
Stay tuned, there’s more to come!!
We’re hosting a Deva class! One of the OG’s of curly education, this class would be a great way to dip your toe into the curly world, refine your skills if you’re already doing curly hair, or just hang with other curly enthusiasts for the day :)
And it’s half off!
Sometimes second cut is when we really go for it.
There’s something special about a returning client. The first visit? That’s where we build trust — learn your hair, learn your lifestyle, learn what you’re really trying to say. But the second visit? That’s when the magic happens. That’s when we both feel confident enough to make the move.
This beautiful client came back, and she was ready. Ready to release some length, ready to let go of some density, and honestly? Ready to breathe.
Her hair is thick, curly, and absolutely stunning — but like so many of us, she reached a point where the upkeep was becoming more of a burden than a blessing. And here’s what I always say: there is no shame in choosing easy. Choosing a style that works with your life instead of against it is not giving up — it’s leveling up. 🙌🏾
Watch the before and after and tell me this isn’t everything. 👀

We’re back with another multi-product styling series and this time it’s all creams, all day. If you saw the last one, you already know how this goes — I’m not just going to tell you a product is good or bad. I’m going to show you, side by side, so you can actually see the difference and decide for yourself.
Because that’s what your hair deserves. Real information. Not just a pretty thumbnail.
Here’s exactly what I tested across all 7 clips:
Clip 1 — The OG curl cream from the last video. I genuinely loved it the first time, so I went back hoping my scalp had forgiven me. It had not. We are not friends. Moving on.
Clip 2 — Innersense Quiet Calm Curl Control + the Light Hold Foam. I want to love everything Innersense makes, but the way this one looked in my hair just wasn’t it for me. Sometimes a product is good — just not for your specific hair. That’s okay.
Clip 3 — Innersense Serenity Smoothing Cream + Light Hold Foam. Now we’re getting somewhere.
Clip 4 — Innersense Serenity Smoothing Cream + I Create Volume. Same cream, different pairing. The combo matters more than we sometimes realize.
Clip 5 — Innersense New Air Dry Cream, solo. No chaser. Just the new cream on its own to see what it could really do.
Clip 6 — Innersense New Air Dry Cream + Light Hold Foam. Adding that foam back in changes things.
Clip 7 — Innersense New Air Dry Cream + I Create Volume.
I have a definite favorite, based not just on day one hair like you see in all of these clips, but based on how well it lasted and frankly how shiny it was. I want to see if your favorite is the same as mine.
I sat on curl creams for a long time, thinking they were going to be too heavy for my hair. But my last video definitely proved me wrong. I tend to be a “pick a favorite combo and stick with it” kind of person, but I’m really glad I stepped outside of my box.
If you have a curl cream that you swear by — feel free to share it below. I’m always open to adding to the lineup. The only requirements: keep it on the clean side of beauty and please, PLEASE don’t recommend anything that smells like it’s trying too hard. Low fragrance is the goal
And now back to our regularly scheduled content! Just a pretty before and after video of some gorgeous long curls! If you’re ready to see what your curls are capable of, come see us :)

Even curl specialists need a little love sometimes. 🥹 I recently trimmed my own hair, but it needed a little tweaking — so I reached out to Laura because she’s been doing some of the cutest short curly cuts, and honestly? I also just wanted to meet her.
So many curl specialists work in isolation, and there’s something really special about being in the same space as someone who does what you do and speaks the same language. (I’ve also had the pleasure of seeing Jessi in the past — she took such great care of me and I hope we’ve built a lasting friendship there too. 🤍)
I stepped out of my chair and into someone else’s, and it felt so good to just be a client for a moment. As someone who spends every day caring for other people’s curls, there’s something rare and beautiful about getting to turn that off and just trust someone else with yours.
Laura was so sweet, so intentional, and made me feel completely at ease from the moment I sat down. And the results? Swipe to see the before and after. ✨🌀
If you’re a fellow stylist who hasn’t treated yourself to a fresh cut lately — this is your sign. You deserve to be taken care of too. 💛
