There are plenty of things that change when you go from working in a salon to owning one.

The biggest surprise? The haircut is only part of the job.

Today, I wear a lot of hats: stylist, educator, mentor, marketer, receptionist, accountant, financial planner, maintenance, janitor, and business owner. But at the center of it all is the same goal I’ve always had: helping women feel confident in their curls.

Owning Clean & Curly has challenged me, stretched me, and rewarded me in ways I never expected. And I wouldn’t change a thing.

This month, we’re launching a new series celebrating the women who make the Clean & Curly community so special.

Every head of curls has a story. Some women are embracing their natural texture for the first time. Others are learning to navigate changes that come with age, hormones, and new seasons of life.

Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing some of those stories.

New (school) year, new hair!

Sometimes it feels so good to just get rid of a bunch of hair and start fresh.

People cut their hair off for all sorts of reasons. For Amy it was about starting a new school year. For some people it’s about a beginning or an ending. For some it’s about wanting things to be easier for a while. For some it’s about letting go of old energy.
