This week marks the end of an Era for me. The last six years I have spent behind these walls, creating, learning, growing and sharing. I am so thankful to have found Indi Root when I did. This was the first salon home where I spread my wings and decided to be my own boss-which was terrifying being so new to the industry. Marjie (IRHco mama) has been such an incredible mentor throughout my time here and I could not be more grateful for her. I have loved working with all of the amazing women in this home, we truly all have a passion for what we do and we show up, everyday, to make magic happen!
I know I have talked with some of my guests about my next steps; I will be making a post about my continued journey in the next day or so. While leaving Indi is bittersweet (I've definitely shed a few tears), I am very much looking forward to where my next steps are taking me.
Grateful to have a group of women at IRHco that have been so supportive in this tough decision. Also, thank you for taking such great care of my guests while I am out-I could not do this without you!!

Today was the first time my beautiful guest .rudd got her hair professionally colored, as an adult! She said her last time was in the 7th grade by her nana who used to be a hairstylist. I can hardly blame her, with her gorgeous head of hair, that deep rich brown is already magical!
She specifically wanted something that was low maintenance and had been bouncing around the idea of balayage. FINALLY I got to play-I had been looking forward to doing her hair color...well since I started seeing her 7+ yrs ago...but most recently all week long!
The beauty of balayage is the grow out and how it looks seamless at every stage. Thank you🙏🏻, lady, for trusting me with your gorgeous head of hair!

Sometimes you can OVER highlight the hair, making the blonde actually appear more dull. I added some dimension back into my girl and brought her hair back to LIFE!

This is an 8 week grow-out of a highlight appointment. I love creating lived-in color that allows my guests to have a beautiful grow -out in between appointments. We won't touch her up for about another 4-5 weeks, and even then we will only do a partial highlight!

When you get that blend just right 😍. There are guests that may not necessarily want OR need full grey coverage and instead opt for a blend. I love doing grey blending services. For this blend, I used a heavy foil technique, placing strategic low lights for dimension!

I recently refreshed hair with a balayage technique. Candace is an ideal candidate for balayage for 3 reasons:
*
1.)she prefers low maintenance
2.)she wants a natural, lived-in look that grows out seamlessly
3.)she does not do any artificial color on her hair so we always get a clean, even lift.
*
She lifts really well for the 3rd reason, therefore I tone her down a little so she gets brighter as she shampoos and has multiple variations of tone from one color session!
*
The more you know😘.

The most recent red tone we've done on this beautiful head of hair😍. I love the melt of dark to light, but especially when it is over-layed with beautiful jewel tones that add an incredible shine 😍😍😍.

One of my favorite things about haircolor is the ability to make it look natural. Make it look as though it grows from the head that way.
I love adding subtle dimension to my brunettes with a soft balayage. Just a hint of a color shift from base to ends allows for a natural look.
Everyone's natural hair color gets a tonal shift from base to ends, by the sun. To mimic that through haircolor is so fun!

My beautiful guest has NEVER done color on her hair (swoon). She is a natural blonde and has always wanted something a bit warmer. We decided to go with a very subtle color shift. This color reminds me of one of my favorite holiday spices, nutmeg! I did a full balayage on her and then added an overtone to ease her into a color change. As the tone fades, a beautiful, buttery blonde will be what is left. I love being able to give my guests a variety of color options in one sitting!
