*Most important: No wet hair. Most mistake an updo appointment as a wash and style. However if it is Homecoming, prom or day of wedding most stylist are booked back to back we need the entire appointment to perfect your updo look.

*Saying: "dirty hair is best" this is not necessarily true. 3 day old hair is not ideal. Best hair is cleaned morning or evening before.

*Fine or limp hair: If your hair doesn't hold a curl or is very flat try putting a styling gel or mousse after washing it.

*Volume/body: If you are looking for a lot of volume/body in your updo: Try blow drying your hair upside down. This will help give you natural body making it easier for your stylist to build on at your appointment
*Don't straighten or curl your hair after dried. Leave the thermal styling to your stylist. Pre-straightened hair makes holding curl harder and curled hair can take extra time to straighten and style the day of. (Exception, if you have excessively curly hair and you would like a straight hair style/updo. pre straightened hair can be helpful)

*Lastly: Consider a hair accessory. A well placed hair accessory can put an updo over the top.
