Absolutely love this look, but I’m gonna be honest I wish the lighting of this photo did this beautiful color justice.

This photo is a great example that lighting has so much to do with showing off your work. The picture above does not pick up the true richness of this auburn color work that we did as well as I hoped it would. In the natural sunlight this color is absolutely stunning but you can’t see that here due to it not being out when the photo was taken.

But, I am so super proud of this cut and color, and wanted to use this as an example to share with you all.

A balayage is a great way to elevate your hair by adding some soft dimension to it.

what does maintenance look like?

I typically recommend my clients come in after their first initial lightning session in about eight weeks to reglaze their hair depending on how we’re feeling about where the lightness is sitting, we will reglaze again in another eight weeks. Then we will assess from there if you are ready to bring some of that highlighting up a little bit closer to the root area.

Really most of the maintenance that happens whenever you get your hair colored happens at home.

What do you mean maintenance happens home?

what do you mean by this is being sure that you’re using a quality products that it’s going to help your color last. Some examples of this are: professional shampoos and conditioners. Leave in products such as: heat protectant, UV protectant, leave-in conditioner, and hair oils.

typically, when you were using a professional product, a little goes a long way. These products are formulated to not only protect your color but have ingredients to keep your hair at its healthiest as well.

let’s talk about hydration for a minute…

If you were loading your curls with a lot of heavy oils and butters you were blocking out any moisture that you can get whenever you’re shampooing.

Why is this? Oil and water don’t mix. When we are using a lot of oils our hair is coated with them not allowing that water in.
