Why I started making these
I had a wonderful upbringing with two amazing parents. Both of my parents were avid boaters and body builders and we went everywhere with them. Plus my father is a nuclear/chemical engineer. We moved around a decent amount and I pursued education in nursing when the time came for me to decide.
Fastforward lots of years.... moves, marriage, childbirth. I am a very, very active mother of two young boys, homeschool teacher, wife, homesteader, gardener, house fixer upper, chef, occasional lumberjack and a nurse. I started making these products for my family and friends. I have progressively become more organized in my efforts. We have had a unique journey in life and these creations are a product of my path.
One of my children, Elijah, has dystonia and being his advocate and assistant has opened my eyes to a more natural way of doing life. It began with us finding a small home in the mountains on some property around 7 years ago. Then we had to figure out what to do with it all. With this property - we have been gardening and hobby farming to sustain our family. Then this lead into my son’s diagnosis as we saw so many intelligent doctors; had every diagnostic, bloodwork, genetic testing and tried medications without an answer or solution for his concerns. This pushed us to try new cooking techniques, look at where our food and medications come from; basically, approach life from a nature basis as best as possible.
Soon thereafter, I made friends with two of my neighbors who have a much greener thumb than I; which in turn had me pursuing gardening more. At that time also, my own debilitating hand pain and pelvic floor health concerns become forefront with no solution after thorough medical efforts and therapy. So I tried my best to put together some recipes for my needs and once I liked them; I decided to give them to my mother. I watched my mother with chronic pain from her psoriatic arthritis my whole life and that is part of why I became a nurse. I always wanted to find something that could help her. Then I started giving them to anyone who seemed interested so I could share my creations; however I realized that was not sustainable and decided it was time I start selling some of my products to help further my phytochemistry/botany/herbalism research, education and product development. Anything I cannot grow or make myself, I am sourcing from sustainable and organic sources.
