🎀 Day 1 of 31 — Breast Cancer Awareness Month

This picture was taken December 13, 2023.

I was sitting there in that gown, smiling and taking a selfie before my routine annual mammogram. I felt fine. I hadn’t felt anything unusual. I wasn’t worried. It was simply something I did every year.

I had no idea that ordinary appointment was about to change my life.

That appointment would become the beginning of one of the hardest years of my life. But that mammogram found something before I knew there was something to find.

So for the next 31 days, I’m going to talk about breast cancer. I’m going to share pieces of my story—the hard parts, the hopeful parts, the things I’ve learned, and the life on the other side of it.

But if there is one message I hope you hear from me all month, it’s this:

Please. Go get checked. 🎀

Don’t wait until you feel something. Don’t assume that because you feel healthy, everything is okay. Don’t keep putting off the appointment because life is busy.

I felt fine too.

That routine mammogram changed the course of my life—and early detection gave me the opportunity to fight.

If you’ve been putting yours off, make the appointment today. And if you’re already scheduled, keep it. You are worth that hour of your time. 🩷

Day 1 of 31. My story. My reminder. My mission this month: get checked. 🎀
