May is Skin Cancer & Melanoma Awareness Month ☀️
Living in Hawai‘i means year-round sun exposure — and in Kona, UV levels remain high even on cloudy days. Over time, cumulative UV damage increases the risk of premature aging, precancerous lesions, and skin cancer, including melanoma.
One of the most important things patients should know:
Skin cancer is often highly treatable when detected early.
Protecting your skin goes beyond beach days. Daily prevention matters:
✔ Broad-spectrum sunscreen
✔ Hats & sun-protective clothing
✔ Seeking shade during peak UV hours
✔ Yearly professional skin checks
Watch for warning signs like:
• changing moles
• spots that won’t heal
• lesions that bleed, itch, or continue evolving

Persistent facial redness is one of the most commonly overlooked signs of Rosacea.
Because rosacea can resemble acne or skin sensitivity, many patients spend years treating the wrong condition.
Without treatment, redness often becomes:
• more noticeable
• more frequent
• more difficult to control
Early diagnosis can make a significant difference.
If your skin has become increasingly red or reactive, call our office to schedule an appointment and discuss treatment options.

Persistent facial redness is often assumed to be sensitive skin, but it may be a sign of Rosacea.
Rosacea is a common inflammatory condition that can progress over time without appropriate treatment. Early diagnosis and a medically guided approach can help reduce symptoms and prevent long-term skin changes.
If you’re experiencing ongoing redness, visible blood vessels, or increased skin sensitivity, evaluation is recommended.
