Illinois Department of Professional Regulations has issued a temporary variance (exception) that allows licensed beauty professionals—such as cosmetologists, estheticians, nail technicians, and hair braiders allowed to complete 100% of their continuing education (CE) hours through your choice of in person or online,video,audio or correspondence courses.

Previously, only 50% of CE hours could be done as self-study. This variance is granted because the Department is in the process of officially changing the rules to permanently allow full CE completion online OR in person.

This is a temporary measure that will expire once the new rule becomes official. However, all other rules and licensing requirements still apply.

➡️ You still need to meet all other requirements to renew or restore your license. including the Sexual Harrassment 1CE course every renewal.
