Although no beach vacation, I will be on vacation starting tomorrow the 28th for a few days. If I happen to be delayed in returning any text, you know why.

Who here immediately scratches their head when the hear the word 'lice'? Start of the school year is starting and I know some parents end up dealing with this in their lifetime at least once. Let's get a head start (no pun intended). Did you know lice does not like the smell of lavender? If you wash your hair or spray your hair with real lavender scented products ...it is a natural deterrent. You can also make your own. 1 cup distilled water, 1 tablespoon witch hazel, and 5 drops of lavender oil in a glass (preferred) spray bottle . Lightly spritz your child or you if you're a teacher with it and you're ready to tackle those creepy creatures. Make note: it DOES NOT get rid of an infestation (please seek out special salons ) but it will definitely give you a great defense! Educate your children too about not sharing hats, combs or brushes with their friends. Good luck and happy school year!

Did you know? There is a lot of confusion with the hair 'dirty' or 'clean" for hair color services. Let me help clear up some misconceptions. It is beneficial for hair to be slightly 'dirty' ( 1 or 2 days) for permanent hair color and or highlights. The natural oils help protect the scalp from any haircolor irritation. However if you are a heavy product user such as hairsprays and gels.. please use sparingly the day you recieve your service . Hair needs to be freshly clean (day before service) for a demi-permanant color as this is ammonia free and cannot pe*****te through excess oils. Most importantly when getting any haircolor service...it also is beneficial to wait to wash your hair a few days after your service as this helps keep the longevity of your haircolor . OK, another important thing to add, your are investing in the quality of a color service by your professional stylist, PLEASE invest in quality products you use everyday.

Does your hair look look like this after swimming this summer? Its a misconception thats its because of chlorine...but its not. It actually is reaction from the heavy metals in your pool. Especially copper. With all of our rain we have had already this spring and summer...its bound to happen. Even I have had trouble getting my pool water to balance. Here are some tips to get it out! 1.Of course old school is immediately wash with dawn soap follow with a good conditioner. 2.Professional products like a clarifying shampoo especially for swimmers hair ( tried and true will always be Paul Mitchel shampoo 3 ) 3. To help prevent it...make sure your hair is wet before you jump in the pool. 4. As always ...if you swim in any pool regardless of the pool being unbalanced...DO NOT skip washing your hair (even children's hair) after a day at the pool or in the ocean. Hope this helps.
