I think if we worried less about how our hair looked and more about how balanced our mental health and emotional well being were,we would find the confidence to rock any look.
Yeah, a fresh retwist/retie/wash can lift your spirits but that's just one part of your dynamic as a healthy human being. In all things a holistic mindset should be applied. Locs are amazing but the true beauty comes from within.

Happy Two years to these locs that have joined me in life thru so much.

The best choices for your hair are the ones you know you can commit to. Not whats trending or what so and so has going on.

Made the move to combine my micros to a manageable size and then I cut the back off. Easier to maintain and fits my lifestyle. Plus, I’m hella cute and confident. 😉

I’ve had long locs, traditional, semi freeform, micro, short, shoulder length, mid back length, colored, LOCS

At every stage there was a reason for the changes that went according to my lifestyle. A trend can’t always line up with what my hair needs to thrive or what my health needs.

Now don’t get me wrong some of these ideas are creative and fun but ask yourself three questions.

1. Is this healthy for my hair and wellbeing?
2. Will I financially and practically be able to maintain this?
3. Would this add value to my self worth and bring ease to my life?

If you cant answer that with a confident YES
Then it’s a confident NOPE

Though I would never reveal the word for word moments with my people, for years I’ve had the privilege of so much wisdom. Many of you I will see again I’m sure but I have always wished that you could all link up. In fact, some of the advice I’ve even given has been due to the massive amount of growth I’ve had by sitting at the feet of great minds like yourselves.

Social media can be used for many things. Today it was placed on my heart to allow it to be a place for insight and healing on my small slice of the internet.

Step 2: lightly spray your hair with hydrating product of choice water alone is fine. LIGHTLY okkkk

Step3: Grab sections and do the most BASIC cornrows. I like to go in the direction I’m planning on wearing my hair. So I do a few straight back from the middle of my head. A few straight towards my face and two to 3 on each side. If you miss some bc your not using a mirror then just braid those ones together. You can rubber band the ends if you’d like. Easy peasy! Bonnet and then off to bed ya go.

Step 4: Wake yo behind up. Unravel crooked cornrows and voila

**Remember this is just to get the waves. You won’t be hitting the streets in these cornrows but if you did that’s your business. Plus if anyone says anything bout your crooked night braids tell ‘em Bernice said

It is with bitter sweet/mixed emotions that I announce that I will be relocating from Houston and closing the studio after 6 years of service in the Houston/Katy area.
Strands of Nature has allowed me to grow in my love for the trade and has allowed me to experience the transformation of so many amazing people. I have more than enjoyed each client that has put their trust in me.

So many of you have become honorary mothers, cousins, or good friends. During your sessions, we've discussed a multitude of things that include Life, Wellness, Healing, and how to love ourselves in all seasons of our life, and I've always encouraged each of you to honor yourself.

The golden principle being to Never put anything ahead of your mental health happiness and wellness. It was never just about the hair. Now, I must honor this life principle and do what I've encouraged you to do.
After much consideration, I've decided to tackle the challenges that life promises in an environment conducive to my healing. I’ve always been open about my war with Leukemia. You have watched me thrive despite so much and I’ve loved the hair therapy that I’ve received by servicing you. I know what it’s like to live on borrowed time and the truth of the matter is that I cannot afford NOT to live my best life. This move will afford me and my family just that.

It is not lost to me that WE have been a special kind of family. To every one of my valued clients, you do not know how much you've meant to me and taught me - either business-related, personally or character wise. You all mean the world to me. I mean that from my soul.

With that said, I will no longer take clients After April 30th,2023. Books will be open to existing clients in good standing until the close of business. In the coming weeks I will be compiling a list of recommendations for stylists that I am comfortable referring you to. I hope and trust that you will continue to flourish in your journey and I thank you for allowing me to bless your crowns. ❤️❤️

Who said locs aren’t versatile?

Consultations, are they important?

Short answer YES!

This should always be the first interaction you have with ANY stylist. Notice that you never have a contractor work on your home without first interviewing, assessing, and asking questions. Many times you see multiple before choosing the right person for the job.

Why do we do more for our material storehouses than we do for our physical temples?? Hmmmm 🧐👂👂🏾did you catch that? Let that one sink in…we can do better people.

My first experience learning about locs was with a loctician in Harlem. Her name was Sandra and she talked me thru healthy hair and knowing how to care for my hair before she even touched my hair. That stayed with me for life.

All I wanted was to look like those women with flowing locs walking the streets of Harlem.
Instead she taught me how to respect my crown and grow in my own self worth.

It all began with a conversation on hair care. Here I am now, giving that same energy I received as a young woman.
