🧪 The Great Shampoo Showdown: All 15 Results Ranked! 🌈
​Ever wonder if your home-care routine is secretly destroying your expensive salon hair color? I decided to put it to a definitive test!

​📋 The Method
​I took 100% human hair extensions, custom-colored them into a precise, vibrant rainbow pattern, and tested 15 different shampoos. To make it fair, every single swatch was washed with ice-cold water and fully dried (blow-dried/air dried depending on my busy-ness that day( exactly 10 times.
​I laid the entire lineup out together alongside an unwashed Control swatch. Swipe through the individual close-ups to see exactly how your favorite brand held up!
​🏆 THE WINNERS (Top Tier)
​These two bottles are the ultimate elite shield for vivid color. They protected the hair's overall depth and kept the primary pattern perfectly recognizable.
​Matrix Glowmania: The absolute, undisputed champion of the experiment. When you look at it next to the control, it is the only swatch that aggressively locked in the notoriously stubborn blue and green center band. The pink and yellow sections lost virtually zero depth. It absolutely proved its professional status!
Garnier Sleek & Shine: The biggest plot twist of the entire lab! For a budget drugstore option, it held onto punchy, saturated pink and yellow bands like crazy. While the blue band did step down into a light minty teal, it completely outperformed products double its price.
​⚖️ THE MID-TIER (Decent Reds, But Cool Tones Ghosted)
​These brands didn't completely ruin the hair, but they cleanly stripped away the cool, multi-tonal dimension, leaving soft pastels behind.
​Tresemme: Kept a remarkably thick, bright band of pink and a warm yellow base, but the blue band ghosted completely into raw blonde.
​Dove: Very clean, uniform fading on the pink zones, but completely pulled the center blue band out.
​Monday & Native: Both of these "clean" brands behaved similarly. They didn't get patchy or muddy, but they cleanly pulled several layers of pigment out, rendering a very soft, pale pastel finish.
​Ion & Not Your Mother's: Both left decent pigment hanging onto the lower ends of the hair, but severely stripped out the top half and mid-shaft, resulting in an uneven ombre look.
​⚠️ THE WILD CARD
​Head & Shoulders: Had the strangest reaction of the bunch. It completely obliterated the blue and green sections back to a stark blonde base, yet left the pink bands looking bright and almost neon. Great if your hair is only pink—devastating if you have a rainbow!
​❌ THE LOSERS (Immediate Eviction Status)
​If you have vivid hair, stay far away from these five. After just 10 brief washes, they pulled almost all depth, character, and tone from the hair, leaving the swatches looking completely washed-out, dull, or muddy.

​Suave
​Kitsch
​Herbal Essences
​Pantene
​All five of these completely ghosted the blue/green bands down to raw blonde and muted the pinks into a very weak, stained-looking coral hue.
​The Professional Verdict: You can rinse with ice-cold water every single time, but if your shampoo is formulated with aggressive surfactants, your gorgeous hair color is going straight down the drain. Guard your investment!
