Exosomes are one of the biggest buzzwords in skincare right now — and while the science is definitely interesting, I’m personally not rushing to jump on the trend just yet.

WHAT ARE EXOSOMES?
Exosomes are tiny extracellular vesicles (messengers) secreted by cells. They carry proteins, lipids, RNA and growth factors that help cells communicate and coordinate important processes

THE PROS:

- Supports Skin Repair
Helps promote cell regeneration and speeds up skin recovery.

- Improves Skin Quality
May improve tone, texture, elasticity and overall radiance.

- Anti-inflammatory
Helps calm inflammation and soothe sensitive or irritated skin.

- Boosts Collagen & Elastin
Supports natural collagen production for firmer, younger-looking skin

- Strengthen Barrier Repair
Enhances barrier function and helps improve hydration.

THE CONS & CONCERNS:

• Limited Long-Term Studies
There is limited long-term human research on topical exosome use in skincare.

• Theoretical Risk: Cancer Concern
Exosomes influence cell communication and growth pathways, which could theoretically stimulate abnormal or cancerous cells (especially in those with active cancer, a history of cancer, or precancerous conditions).

• Quality & Source Matter
Purity, concentration and source vary widely.
Low-quality products may be ineffective or pose safety risks.

NO STRONG EVIDENCE TOPICAL EXOSOMES CAUSE CANCER, but long-term safety is still being studied.
