I’m so grateful for this man and all of our adventures together. We got to spend 3 nights in Koke’e state parks, with no tv, no service, and no WiFi. I didn’t realize how much I needed that until we were back to the real world. It was so nice to disconnect, be present, and adventure together. This place was incredible! We are so blessed to get to go on these amazing adventures together and explore miles of trails.

Thanks Matt and for capturing our special day. Huge thank you to our Pastor Kirk Templeton for marrying us in such a special spot.

What a cool experience! I’ve always wanted to see the northern lights. Tonight we could see them with the naked eye on our neighborhood. We decided to drive up to the trailhead to see them. Wow 🤩

Saying goodbye to the high country as many times as I can before winter. This time of year is the best time to enjoy the uintas. The crowds are gone. We had the whole mountain to ourselves. Staying warm and cozy in my pinion down pullover and Luca headband. The dogs were so excited to play in the snow. It’s Lucy’s favorite ❤️

This weekend was my first time pacing iconic 🏔️I got to privilege of pacing on his birthday from Brighton to the finish line. There is something so special about watching someone push through 100 miles to give it everything they got. Andrew did just that. The section that I got was full of so many steep, technical downhills and little rolling uphills. To me those are the worst at the end of a 100 miler. He pushed through like a champ.

One of the coolest parts of this experience was seeing the amazing support from his parents. They were out crewing him all day and through the night. Not everyone is lucky enough to have parents that support like that. It’s examples like his parents that make me strive to be a better mom. Ultra running and life is a team sport. When you surround yourself with the best team, there are no limits in what you are capable of, only mountains to climb.

Thanks for letting Jonathan and I be a part of your Wasatch 100 journey. 🫶🏻

Our big fat crazy family reunion 🤪🫶🏻👩🏼‍🤝‍👨🏽👩🏽‍🤝‍👨🏻🧍🏻‍♂️

It was our 3rd year . It has quickly become one of our favorite weekends of the year. We love the beauty and challenge of these mountains but the people(and dogs) are what keeps us coming back.

Things didn’t go well for Jonathan. He was doing great until he took a hard fall on his arm and slide off the trail down some scree. I could tell the instant I saw him at mile 43. Apparently, he ran 17 miles with a possible broken arm. After having the medic and a dr look at if he made the decision to drop.

and I decided to shift gears and help out our friend who had no pacers. I jumped in at mile 70 to the finish. This section looks easy on paper but it’s no joke. Lots of this section were off trail and not the greatest footing. Marc never once complained. He put one foot in front of the other and was steady the entire time.

As we approached the last aid station, we decided I was going to push Marc in. I was so impressed with how he was able to push it in at 8 minute per miles pace after running that far. He held on so strong and picked off so many people.

The best part was his wife surprised him and met him at the finish. It was so hard keeping that secret all night.

We can’t wait to go back next year whether it’s running, pacing, or volunteering. We love this race and the people so much.

Throwing it back to Peru 🫶🏻
Salkantay trek day 3

We started day 3 of our trek in the cloud forest of Collpapampa. The beginning of the day followed along a river. The trail was smooth and rolling. The vegetation was lush and green. Along side the trail grew orchids and the tiniest strawberries 🍓

We reached our first resting spot during the day. Here we sampled many of the local produce that grew in the area. We had granadilla, mangos, fresh squeezed juices, and the best avocado toast. Anyone that knows me knows that the food was one of my favorite parts of the trip.

We traveled further along the river, had a terrifying van ride along a cliff, followed by our last lunch with our amazing chefs, roasting our own coffee, then we finished our hike along the river into Aqua Calientes.

So proud of this kid! He has worked non stop this last year. He wakes up before work to lift weights or run, works 40-48 hours a week, then makes it to class for 2 hours to train every night after work. His hard work paid off again this week.

He went up two weight classes since there was nobody in his weight to compete against and still came out with the gold. He won all of his matches by submission this time. It has been so fun watching him grow, learn, and become more confident in himself this last year. I can’t thank and enough.

After his tournament we were talking about how much work he had put in. He told me “yeah, but I could have done more”. I can’t wait to see where he goes with that kind of attitude. He has so much dedication and drive.

Salkantay trek day 2

After making it to Salkantay pass, sitting at 15,100’, we had a long downhill to the next camp. We ended up dropping 5,000’ down into the cloud forest.

We left the massive, glacial peaks behind us and soon began passing so many waterfalls. It was amazing how much the scenery and weather changed in just 19 miles.

Hendrix and I went ahead of our group so we could run this section. We ran this section with our chef and chef assistant. They were the cutest father son duo. That night they prepared us another amazing meal. We definitely were very well fed.
