In a world of modern blonding, it’s easy to forget about the value of a well-executed “classic” service. I think it’s so important to learn & understand how to do BOTH. The more we know, the better equipped we are to handle ANYTHING that hits our chair. The reason these raw-lift slices didn’t look a stripey yellow mess is because: 1️⃣ the slices were THIN 2️⃣ I used my tail comb to squeegee off excess color before applying the lightener This allows for even saturation which = even lift. Thin “squeegeed” sections also = less swelling & lighter foils, which = highlights that are close to the scalp with no bleeders #emchenhair #saloneducation

Over-direction >>>>>> Feathering Here’s why 👇 The point of feathering is to soften the demarcation line of the lightener, but when you feather, you’re not fully saturating the hair. Without full saturation, you run the risk of getting a warm band at the point you feathered. However, over-directing allows you to FULLY saturate the hair (even in a straight line!!!) because once you bring the hair back to where it naturally falls, the lightener will follow a natural, gradual placement.
