Being prepared is the theme and basis for staying on track.... from food prep to packing for a 12 hour drive yesterday.

All my healthy snacks were within reach so I didn’t have to stop OR spend money on bad food!

Then I also pack easy things for the hotel. There is always a microwave somewhere you can use.

Sometimes I take a cooler but this time didn’t need too!

You don’t have all day to harvest, clean, chop? Me neither! Here are a few of my secrets for “lazy meal prep”.

Today is my daughters 14th birthday! I can’t believe it! My husband, 10 year old son and I embarrassed her bright and - early singing happy birthday and bringing her a donut with a candle (while surrounded by friends from a sleepover). We made sure to let her feel the birthday love and then I snuck away for a quick workout. Literally 1 hour.

While I was training, I thought about the many times parents have shared that they have been unable to find a way to balance life as a parent and being healthy.

“I feel so selfish?” “My family just wouldn’t understand.” “My kids hate having to go to the gym or waiting for me to get home....”

I get it! Believe me, I get it. Every one of those reasons is a valid reason. But maybe parents should think about their health in a different perspective.

Here’s my take on it.
Leading a healthy life will....

*Teach your family that health is important! And maybe rub off on them!

*Show your family (kids) that having a goal is something they can do long after their school days. Parents can and should have goals too! Talk with your children about your goals and the importance in working toward something, winning (and failing).

*Encourage patience. It’s not a bad thing to have our kids sit on the sidelines and cheer for us once in a while. How many hours do we sit and watch games?? Patience is, as they say, a virtue. One we should strive to teach our children.

So, the next time you are feeling guilty for taking the time you need to take care of yourself (meal prep, or training) - STOP and realize all the good that you are doing, not only for yourself - but for your entire family!

It’s a 3 day weekend and a birthday weekend in our house! What now??

We made it —— heyyyyyFriday!
Looking forward to a fun holiday weekend celebrating my daughters 14th birthday (while maintaining my nutrition plan). I’ll share tips along the way on how to survive a birthday celebration!

But first, Friday. I have a little more time this am (not coaching at 5am) so I get all kinds of crazy and blend my morning shake! 😂

I’m no cook, really. But I have found that you don’t really have to be to keep things interesting in the kitchen. And I can’t tell you how many food combos I have come to love that were a complete accident!

1. Add ice and blend! In my opinion, this will make most everything better! Water/lemon (stevia), Coffee, Tea, La Croix, Zevia. I mean, how easy can it be? 🤯

2. Spice it up! 👅 Keep things exciting with flavor. Sage, Rosemary, Thyme, Oregano, Mint, Basil, etc. Get creative here! Again, how easy can it be? Be sure to check guidelines for specific diets.

3. Size matters! 😂😏 Try using a smaller plate and utensils. I have saved 2 baby spoons that I ALWAYS use for my frozen treats. It makes them last so much longer and it helps me to slow down and savor the experience. Give it a try.

How do I get out of the house early to train?? Keep it super simple! Coffee, coconut water and bone broth protein in one shaker and GO!
😜🤔
