Taking care of the Gardener so they can take care of their garden.

As the spring season ushers in vibrant blooms and the promise of new growth, it also beckons garden enthusiasts to embark on a flurry of activities in our outdoor sanctuaries. With all the hustle and bustle of tending to garden chores, it is crucial to remember to prioritize the care of our own bodies with the same tenderness we reserve for nurturing our plants. Here are a few tips to help you maintain a harmonious balance during the spring garden push. Feeding the soil is our passion and our business-Healthy, Happy People is the biggest part of our WHY.

1. Stretching and warming up our bodies: Before diving into gardening tasks, take a few minutes to stretch your muscles. Gentle stretches can help prevent stiffness and injuries, ensuring that your body remains limber and ready for the day’s activities. Early season injuries are common for gardeners and can really dampen the joy of the season. Please take care of yourselves.

2. Sun Protection: Shield yourself from too much by wearing a wide-brimmed hat. There are several lightweight clothing options with high SPF ratings that eliminate the need for sunscreen and often protect against insect bites. Seek shade during peak sunlight hours to avoid sunburn as well as overheating.

3. Hydration: Stay hydrated throughout the day by drinking plenty of water. Gardening activities can be physically demanding, leading to the loss of fluids through sweat. Keep a water bottle handy and sip regularly to replenish your body and maintain optimal hydration levels.

4. Natural Insect Repellent: Ward off pesky insects naturally by using essential oils like citronella, lavender, mint, or eucalyptus. These natural repellents can help keep bugs at bay while avoiding exposure to harsh chemicals often found in commercial insecticides.

5. Enjoy the moment: Take moments to pause, breathe deeply, and soak in the beauty of your surroundings. Connect with nature by inhaling the fresh spring air and allowing yourself to be present in the joy not just the work of the season. Practicing mindfulness can help reduce stress, elevate mood, and enhance the overall experience of gardening. Engage in mindful gardening practices, such as focusing on the textures, scents, and colors of your plants. Allow yourself to unwind and find solace in the rhythm of nature, fostering mental clarity and emotional well-being.

By incorporating these mindful practices into your spring gardening routine, you can cultivate a nurturing environment not only for your beloved plants but also for your own well-being. Remember that taking care of your body and mind is essential for savoring the joys of the spring season and fostering a deeper connection with the natural world around you.
