We are still discussing the Topic of Hair Texture and Hair Type. Remember, your Hair Texture is referring to the Thickness or Diameter of an Individual strand of hair. In other words, the weight and feeling of the hair strand.

Below is a visually showing you the 3 different Hair Textures as we describe the feeling of each.

✨Fine Hair - the strands are the smallest in diameter, hair feels soft and silky, can appear flat or lack volume.

✨Medium Hair - the strands are thicker than the fine hair strands but not as thick as course hair, has a balanced structure not to fragile and not too rough.

✨Coarse Hair - the thickest in diameter and often feel strong and wiry.

Now that you understanding your Hair Texture, we also included a visual of the Hair Type, the pattern or shape the hair takes as it grows from your scalp.

✨Striaght Hair - grows straight from the scalp and doesn’t naturally curl or wave. It tends to be shiny since sebum (natural oils) travel easily from scalp to ends.

✨Wavy Hair - forms a natural “S” pattern. It can be straight when wet but wavy when dry. It’s prone to frizz and needs lightweight moisture balance.

✨Curly Hair - has a definite “S” or corkscrew shape and tends to be dry because natural oils have a harder time traveling down the strand.

✨Kinky Hair is the most fragile and tightly coiled. Strands may look thick, but each is fine and prone to dryness and shrinkage. Hair appears soft, fluffy, or zig zag shaped.

A few days ago we explained what Hair Texture means, which is the Thickness or Diameter of and Individual Strand of Hair. Also, within the Hair Texture, you’ll find out the difference in Density (how full or thick the hair looks).

Today, we’re going to talk about the different Hair Types! 🙂 Your Hair Type is referring to the Curl Pattern, the shape the hair takes as it grows out from the scalp. There’s 4 different Hair Types. Straight Hair (Type 1), Wavy Hair (Type 2), Curly Hair (Type 3) and Course Hair (Type 4).

Now let’s compare the 2 (Hair Texture and Type) with some visual examples. Remember, there are 3 different hair textures; Fine Hair, Medium Hair and Course Hair! Below are examples showing the 4 different Hair Types, All with Fine Hair.
