We are officially closed. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone in this community for all of the love and support you have shown our business over the years. It was my dream and we more than accomplished all of our goals. I also want to acknowledge the girls who collectively pooled their talents and helped make Velvet Jupiter a success! Kari Bonds, Rita Luker, Jasmine Morgan, Diana McGlasson, Tammy Greene, Lexie Copeland, and formerly Christina Dixon and Samantha Shaffer. I’d also like to thank Charbonet Hightower and the girls at Mirror, Mirror for always being so supportive over the years! And last but not least, my biggest thanks to my husband, J.R., for not only making my dream a reality and supporting me the entire way but for also knowing how to support me when I made the decision to close. This was not an easy decision but it was the best for me. I WILL return to doing hair but on a much smaller scale and it will be some months in the future when I feel more ready. You can find Kari and Lexie downtown at Mustang Cat’s and Tammy, Diana and Rita at Mirror, Mirror. Jasmine is in White Oak at Frizetava Salon.
Attention clients:
I have an announcement to make that I wasn’t planning to make until I had things set in stone but it’s already out. It is with a very heavy heart after much thought and prayer that I have decided to sell Velvet Jupiter Salon and step away from doing hair for a little while. I honestly came back to work sooner than I was ready because of feeling like I was letting people down as well as the fear of losing all of my clientele that I’ve worked so hard to build over many years.
2023 has been the most painful and difficult year of my life. Between trying to settle mom’s estate and her husband deciding to sue my siblings and me, (everything she had was HER inheritance) and then losing my precious son, Jack, and more unspoken trials, I’m exhausted. I have tried my best to keep a smile on my face, provide the best hair service experience for each client as I possibly could but I need some more time to focus on processing this unbearable grief. I’m never going to “get over it” and I’m never going to “move on”, but I am going to learn to live alongside of it hopefully better than I am right now. I have severe PTSD and anxiety on top of everything else and I know my limitations. I’m just maxed out.
BUT not forever. I will return to doing hair, but on a smaller scale and something I can manage better for my own mental and emotional health. I’m learning that “it’s ok to not be ok” is so much more than an awkward cliche’. Having said all of that, next week will be my last week for doing my own personal clients. The salon will remain open, at least that is the plan right now. Some stylists are leaving and I’m sure new ones will be coming to fill open spots and hopefully there will be new owners soon!
As soon as I am ready to do hair again I will make another announcement to let everyone know when/where, should you decide to come back to me. If not, it is completely understandable and I’m trusting that the Lord will take care of me either way. Thank you, to each and every one of you who have loved and supported this salon and my dream. I have more than accomplished what I hoped for and it’s all because of the great support of all of our clients and for that, I will be forever grateful. Much love to you all.

4 1/2 years without a haircut and it was driving her crazy! She was so happy and said “I’ll keep you”. I hope to see her again before 2027! 😂 Cut and Style by Lorri.
PLEASE do not contact Lorri at this time. If you need an appointment or have an appointment scheduled please call the shop at 903-983-0083 and we will try our best to get you scheduled in a timely manner.
As you may know, our Lorri and JR and family had an unexpected tragedy happen this week. We do not know when Lorri will be back in the shop taking appointments. We have her book and know she has made appointments for tomorrow and Saturday as well as the weeks following. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO CONTACT LORRI TO RESCHEDULE! Please call the shop at 903-983-0083 and speak to us with regard to her schedule. We will try to accommodate as many as we can in a timely manner. We ask that you have patience and understanding at this devastating time in Lorris life. We know you will. The shop will be closed this Saturday for the funeral. We thank you and we ask that you keep Lorri and her family in your prayers.
