Follow-up on my Optimum nightmare: I WILL NOT be getting that so-called refund 'Gift Card" in the fine print of their Terms and Agreements:

You may cancel Service(s) for a period up to the last day of the billing period prior to the service period that you wish to cancel, and the cancellation will be effective at the end of the then-current billing period. Subject to restrictions under applicable law, any request for cancellation after the commencement of a service period will be effective at the end of the then-current service period. Access to the Services will, if possible, continue to be provided at the location ordered or, if you move, to your new location if in an Optimum-served area (subject to any installation charges).

My advice is if and when you want to switch from Optimum to any other company. Turn off auto-pay first, then service before the end of the billing cycle (I was 8 days into the new billing cycle). Return all equipment before the end of the current billing cycle. You will save yourself a lot of grief.

For those of you who currently use Optimum for your Internet service provider here is a bit of FYI for you:

We currently switched from Optimum to ALLO. Our billing cycle ends on the 19th of each month. We turned off Optimum on the 27th (8 days usage on the current billing cycle) Since I have auto-pay turned on they automatically pulled out the entire bill of $133.69. We just called to question this and were told we have to wait till the 19th which is the end of the current billing. On the 20th they will refund with a "visa card" not back to the bank account it was withdrawn from. If you are going to switch (which I highly recommend) please turn off auto-pay before disconnecting if you are set up for auto-pay. Also, this Kingman office cannot assist you with billing questions. What this local office does is very basic. Buyer beware. They also do not have any customer service representatives in the US.

Please pass on this information. It sounds very scammy to me but it is what it is. It's a wait-and-see thing until I do or do not get this so-called visa card in the mail.
