People ask me all the time, “What sparked your interest in the Med Spa industry and led to you opening Lush?”

My response is ALWAYS 👄

“I got my own lips done and fell in LOVE with my results!” 😍

After being a registered nurse for 12+ years, I wanted a shift. I wanted to give other people that same confidence, so I thought… why not merge my nursing background with the beauty industry?

And that led me down the path of investing in my Lush baby. 🥹

I can’t believe that was nearly three years ago.

We’re now in our third location—and this one is solely ours. But I started in a tiny suite in Shelby, cramped in the back of a building, hidden from the world. No windows. No signage. My first treatment chair came from Facebook Marketplace, and I scored it for FREE because the man felt bad for me. 😆 It wasn’t fully functional and needed some serious TLC.

Good thing my daddy works in a metal shop. 🤎 He made a custom piece for my Marketplace chair and got it functional until I could afford a fancy one.

And y’all… I made that be**er chair work for TWO YEARS. 😂

I stooped down to do filler—which I can tell you is NOT ideal—especially when filler quickly became one of my favorite treatments to perform and one of my most popular services.

I finally upgraded in February 2026 when we moved into our biggest location yet, right in the heart of my hometown, with our name on the door. 🙌🏻

There is something incredibly rewarding about building something from a dream, from the ground up, and truly starting at the bottom.

I will never forget where I came from or the people who helped and supported me along the way. 🤎

And let me tell you—it is DEFINITELY not always fun, glamorous, or trendy like the TikToks make business expansion look. 😆

There are learning curves, constant adjustments, growing pains, mistakes that turn into valuable lessons, increased stress, increased liability… all of it.

But I wouldn’t change it for anything.

Trust and believe, I was met with plenty of resistance—haters in the industry, naysayers, negativity, and people telling me I couldn’t do it. There were people waiting for me to fall flat on my face so they could laugh.

I was denied opportunities to work as an injector at other local spas in an already cutthroat market. Eventually, I decided:

If they’re not going to let me in to learn under them, I’m going to start my own.

And here we are. 🤎

Sometimes the resistance even came from family and friends. There were plenty of people looking at me like I had completely lost my mind while I put everything on the line. 😆

And some days, I still wonder if I did. 😂

I’m not only the clinician injecting a full schedule of patients. I’m answering two phones, emails, checking patients in and out, handling housekeeping, accounting, social media, marketing, content creation, branding, inventory, bills, licensure, contracts, protocols… the list goes on.

There are so many behind-the-scenes pieces that no one ever sees.

But I keep showing up.

I keep trusting God to provide the pieces I need along the way. I keep growing, learning, and getting better. I get to make a difference in how my patients feel about themselves, and somewhere along the way, so many of those patients have become more like family.

Because that’s what Lush is.

And somehow, this little dream has already become more than I could have imagined—and this is not the end.

All glory to God.

He will always get the credit, and I will forever remain humble and grateful because I know none of this is promised.

Every single one of you has played a part in our success and helped me create a way to provide for my family as a single mom.

In March 2025, I left what I knew: full-time nursing and a high-ranking House Supervisor/administrative nursing position at Atrium.

I took the leap and pursued Lush full-time.

I haven’t looked back, and God willing, I pray I never have to.

He has worked things out in ways I could have never imagined.

There’s something special about starting with almost nothing and putting in the time, work, sweat, and tears to build the life you want for yourself and your family—despite the odds and adversity stacked against you.

You throw the excuses out the window. You keep your grit and determination when things get hard or people try to block you.

Because you know you’ve got baby girls watching you.

Failure wasn’t an option.

And sometimes, on the hard days, what I need most is to stop and look at the progress.

Because when you’re constantly focused on where you’re going, it’s easy to forget how far you’ve already come.

My first IV chair sat in the SAME tiny room as my desk and my treatment chair. Every service happened in that one compact room.

I started with maybe two or three services.

At my next location, I started the same way. Eventually, another room opened up and I was able to expand into my first private IV space with two recliners.

And now?

We’ve grown from a handful of services to 10–15+ offerings and into a space that once felt impossible.

There are pictures of me and my girls sitting on the floor of Lush from one of the biggest days of this entire journey.

I had just gotten off the phone with my boss.

It was the day I chose to risk it all and leave my full-time House Supervisor position.

I was scared to death.

My girls could tell I had been crying. I walked back into the room, collapsed onto the floor with them, hugged them, and told them:

Mommy was taking a big leap of faith.

I told them that one day we were going to look back at that moment and see how God kept us, protected us, and orchestrated everything from beginning to end.

I did it scared.

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have doubts, fears, or reservations.

We prayed.

I cried on the floor with my babies.

One of my daughters decided taking pictures while Mommy was crying was apparently a good idea. 😂 At the time, maybe not—but now, I’m so thankful she did.

There are even videos of me talking to them that day, and those will forever be some of my most meaningful memories.

I was leaving everything comfortable and familiar—a career I knew, a major healthcare corporation, a leadership position—all while having a house on the market that wasn’t selling.

I didn’t know exactly what was going to happen.

But God met us that day, and He’s still meeting us today.

I’ll forever be grateful. I’ll remain humble. And I’ll continue learning.

Because you can never stop learning.

The moment you think you know it all is the moment you stop growing.

Looking back at these pictures makes me realize just how much has changed.

From one IV chair squeezed beside my desk and treatment chair… to my first private IV room… to signing the lease and getting the keys to a space of our very own.

From designing my own first sidewalk sign—and yes, the branding SUCKKKEEEDDD. 😂 Thank God for Brit Payne because you have helped me and taught me SO much.

From driving all the way to Charleston, SC, alone for my first two-day training course and taking a selfie with my certificate before driving home to NC…

To shadowing nurse injector Lindsay Kincaid in Asheville, who now owns her own med spa and has become a great friend.

To hands-on tox and filler training with our very own Medical Director, Dr. Steven Weston, his staff, Needle Driver, and Joey with Revance—back when I was still a baby injector.

To opening my first-ever microneedling pen and serum and being SO excited to add another service.

Every picture tells part of the story.

Every room got a little bigger.

Every opportunity taught me something.

Every hard season built something I couldn’t see yet.

And every version of Lush brought us one step closer to where we are now.

Sometimes you have to stop looking at how far you still want to go and turn around long enough to see just how far God has already brought you. 🤎
