🚶‍♀️Can I safely walk down this block solo this time of night? 😱If I have to scream for help here will anyone hear me? 🚊Will I be ok if I choose a seat in this train carriage traveling alone? I reckon I was 13 when I started risk assessing. It’s unconscious at this point. Is someone watching my drink? Did I text the cab number plate to someone? Is he following me…or just walking home? (What did I miss??) I needed to call 911 the other day in the subway. But picking up my phone and talking would have meant me & others were put in more danger. So I tried texting to see if it worked…. It DID. 😱 So PSA if you ever need 911 in NYC, texting works. It (sadly) does NOT work everywhere in the USA. About 60% of emergency centres have text capacity. But worth checking online to see if your area has coverage. Always call when you can (they prefer that) but good to have the option.
