The Time Has Come
Well, the time has come for me to make this announcement.
Many of you know that the last few years have been a roller coaster, especially in my professional life. Sometimes I look back and think that if I had never made the decision to step away from behind the chair full-time, I probably wouldn’t be making this announcement today.
When I went through my divorce, I obviously went through an incredibly difficult time. I took advice from someone I probably shouldn’t have, but at the time, I truly thought it was the best decision for me and my girls. I thought it was the end of one chapter and the beginning of another, and my biggest priority was making sure I had medical insurance and that my girls were taken care of. At the end of the day, that was all that mattered to me.
So, I made the decision to step away from behind the chair full-time and work for a hair company. Unfortunately, that didn’t work out, and I’ve felt like I’ve been bouncing around trying to find my place ever since.
This past January, I decided to make the leap and come back behind the chair full-time. The first couple of months were amazing, and for a little while, I really felt like I was finding my way back to something I had loved for so long. But unfortunately, things began to slow down.
The hair industry simply isn’t what it was when I started 10 years ago. Social media has become such a huge part of building and maintaining a business, and unfortunately, I’m just not in a place in my life where I want to spend hours creating content, keeping up with trends, and constantly trying to market myself online.
And as difficult as this decision is, I have to be honest with myself about what I can and cannot sustain.
To those of you who have stood by me and been my clients for the last 10 years—even during the times when I had a very limited book—I appreciate you more than you will ever know. You helped keep me afloat during some of the hardest seasons of my life.
You have been so much more than clients to me. You became friends. You became family. You became people I could count on. I have had the absolute privilege of watching your families grow, celebrating your milestones, being there through your changes, and having you trust me with something as personal as your hair for all these years.
That means more to me than I could ever put into words.
And to those of you who came back to me after my hiatus, thank you. You could have found someone else, but you chose to come back and sit in my chair again. I will never take that for granted.
This decision did not come lightly.
After a lot of thought, a lot of emotions, and a lot of soul-searching, I have decided to 100% completely retire from doing hair.
Unfortunately, the industry is not what it once was, and I have reached a point where I simply cannot sustain this career in the way I would need to in order to continue. As much as that hurts to admit, I know that it is time for me to move forward.
I am incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to work in two of my friends’ salons over the past few years. Both of them opened their doors to me, gave me a salon home, and were nothing but gracious and supportive. I will forever be thankful for that.
Most recently, Miller’s Beauty Bar has been my salon home for almost two years, and I truly have nothing but amazing and wonderful things to say about my experience there.
If you are a stylist looking for an amazing salon home where you can grow your business and be supported, I highly recommend reaching out to Cassidy at Miller’s Beauty Bar. Miller’s Beauty Bar
As for me, it’s time to move into the next phase of my life.
There is something else I have been doing for the past couple of years that I have slowly been building, and now it’s time for me to give that my 100% focus and see where it can take me.
Walking away from something I have done for 10 years is incredibly hard. Hair has been such a huge part of my identity, my life, and my story. I have loved so many aspects of this career, and I have met some of the most incredible people because of it.
So please know that this isn’t a decision I am making because I don’t care anymore. In many ways, that is what makes it so hard. Sometimes loving something also means recognizing when it’s time to let it go.
To every single person who has sat in my chair, trusted me with your hair, referred someone to me, shared my work, supported my business, checked on me, encouraged me, or simply cheered me on over the last 10 years:
Thank you. From the absolute bottom of my heart, thank you.
I will carry the memories, friendships, conversations, laughs, tears, transformations, and countless hours spent behind that chair with me forever.
This is a very hard and very sad decision for me, but I know it is time.
If you already have a scheduled appointment with me, it will stand. If you need to schedule appointment with me prior to this happening, reach out to me immediately. I will keep Appointments till the end of 2026.
Here’s to the next chapter. ❤️
