Having ‘good’ posture doesn't prevent back pain, and 'bad' posture doesn't cause it We’ve all been told our whole lives we need ‘good’ posture: sit up straight, stand straight with shoulders back, and lift by bending the knees. It turns out there’s really no evidence for that advice.

Innerwaves is proud to welcome Garry Stephenson to our collective.
"I have been a certified massage therapist in Lafayette, Indiana for 7 years. During this time, I have acquired well over 10,000 hours of hands-on massage therapy; here is how I began. I enrolled at Ivy Tech Community College in the summer of 2012 trying to find a new purpose in my life as I neared retirement. I was driven to become a Massage Therapist. I graduated in 2015 after 3 years; 9 straight semesters of studying all that Ivy Tech offered in health care with a focus on Anatomy. My degree reads: “Associates of Applied Science in Health Care Specialist.” My major was (is) Massage Therapy. I have attended many seminars, acquired many Continuing Education credits, practiced many massage modalities, and become a distinguished massage therapist.
My massage is eclectic, focusing on restoring the natural balance of the body's soft tissue and kinesthetic awareness. My pressure begins with gentle firmness and ranges between light, medium, to extra-firm pressure; never creating pain or upsetting the nervous system. My massage is patient, not forcing change but rather inviting it. I have strong awareness, natural intuition, allowing me to feel and sense what the musculature wants and needs from me each session to promote healing. No matter what a client presents to me, I can help. 100% focus on you, 100% of the time. Keep in mind that the benefits of massage are cumulative."
Garry's modalities include:
Swedish massage
Cranial sacral therapy: migraines, head and neck tension
Myo-skeletal release
Myo-fascial release
Sports massage for recovery
Hip, sacrum, pelvis, gluteal, sciatic nerve pain
Trigger point therapy
Stretching for increasing range of motion
