Who would have thunk! Curly girls getting perms!
It does seem odd right? A curly girl getting a perm.
But sometimes getting a perm at different stages of your curls, can help give you definition, less lazy "S" wave or a tighter one, and more bounce. Essentially, it turns lazy, inconsistent curls into a more manageable style.
Just don't make the mistake of many and think - Ok, curls are set. I don't need to do any work now. That is absolutely not true. It still requires the same care of moisture, hydration, protein balance, etc.. Not escaping that.
what do you think? Would you as a curly girl get a perm?

What do you remember most about perms back in the 80's?
The smell? The damage to your hair? The scalp irritation?
Well, times have changed and hair care has changed - including perms!
I am so happy to introduce Texturology now carrying Maria Nila perm formulas, with an option for soft perms being ammonia free! These formulas can be adjusted to accomodate current chemical treatments your hair has already undergone or potential damaged hair.
I don't do perms often, but they are available by special request. dm me first to discuss if its a good choice for you.

Scissors are all the same right? NOPE!
Just like cutting hair with scissors intended for paper or cloth won't be as effective, hairstylists have a plethera of different scissors to match the different type of cuts, hair type and effect.
This beautiful young lady, wanted a U shape to the ends of her curls. So using a straight scissor wouldn't create that effect well - or without a lot of time and effort.
So, my favorite curved scissors to the rescue! I love these scissors and they certainly see alot of use.
And look at that beautiful "U" to her curls. π₯°
Me and clients were talking about how we've brought back elements of 70's and 90's...so what if ghe 80's made a comeback..but without Aquanet and with a more modern styling!
Images of me with 80's style are AI created since I was a 90's baby. π
But what do you think? Time to pump up the volume and bring back neon?
Honestly, would you trust a hairdresser who didn't change their hair? π
Not only is changing our hair a way to practise skills, but also is a sign of passion and joy for the craft. Experimenting, testing products and methods on ourselves and just pure enjoyment of seeing what changes we can create..and maybe catching a few mistakes on ourselves rather than possibly a client.
So yes, my hair is rarely the same for long but I see that as a good thing!
Typical me...I had an idea. I want each step of your hair journey to feel special, joyful and make you smile. So I created an entrance arch you step through on your way to massaging chairs while I rinse your hair. And it is now called..The Flock Lounge..
