For her surprise appearance singing a cover of Billy Edd Wheeler’s “Jackson,” we wanted her hair to look long and flowing, with soft waves and a “barely there” texture. Worn under a cowboy hat, it was the perfect healthy hairstyle for the desert winds on stage. To create this look, I prepped Kate’s hair with Joico Dream Blowout Thermal Protection Crème from roots to ends to control frizz and add shine for a smoother blowout finish. I followed with Joico Power Whip Whipped Foam, applying it from mid-length to ends to enhance movement and add body to her texture. Using a large round brush, I blew out her hair straight, then used a 1-inch barrel curling iron to wrap sections of hair randomly and in different directions, creating soft, barely-there bends and sexy texture. Finally, I finished by spraying Joico Body Shake Texturizing Finisher to hold Kate’s texture, giving her hair that lived-in, healthy hair look.
