a traditional highlight method isn’t necessarily the wrong way to start creating a dimensional color- but with her layered cut & density, a standalone partial highlight can result in too much brightness in the top half of her hair, leaving an unbalanced amount of depth through the bottom half. we broke it up by adding a middle & lowlight, and incorporated a teasylight to help add more brightness throughout her ends rather than the top, all while maintaining depth. The end result is a little darker, but overall cooler and softer, which was our goal 🪩

It’s funny how your idea of success changes the longer you do something. Once upon a time I would have said it was perfect foils, being booked solid, and a viral instagram. Now, I’m realizing the important things are ones I didn’t necessarily learn in cosmetology school.

How to attract your people, whether that’s a clientele, co workers, or friends.
How to find the balance for passion about what you do as a career, but also life outside of that.
How to look at the bigger picture and realize the only competition you have is yourself 🩷

All those lessons are learned through good & bad times, over & over again. So whether you’re new at this or have been doing it for years, this is your reminder that you’re not behind, you’re right where you need to be.
