This Saturday! I am teaching a donation based class in honor of my mother and all those who have loved ones dealing with, or who have lost someone from, Alzheimer’s or related dementias. This class is also in honor of those who spend their time caring for people with these diseases. You can find a brief story about my mom and more about the Alzheimer’s Foundation in my previous post about this event. You can donate without attending the class though I am hoping to see you there! On Saturday, July 22 at 1:30 p..m. I will be teaching a Pilates class at Club Pilates in Newport Beach, California to benefit the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. My mom, seen with me in this picture, was a working attorney who was diagnosed around the beginning of the Pandemic. She stopped driving then because she kept getting lost, now she sometimes has difficulty finding her way from the kitchen to her bedroom. Her condition has progressed rapidly. It is heartbreaking to witness.

Over 6.2 million American’s over 65 are living with Alzheimer’s and by 2050 this number is expected to rise to approximately 13 million. Every 66 seconds someone in America is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. With the aid of organizations like the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America we are seeing medical breakthroughs for the delay (& hopefully one day the prevention) of cognitive decline. The AFA also provides resources, education, and support for caregivers.

The pilates class will be a lot of fun, but spots are limited. If you are interested in participating please reserve your reformer through ClubPilates.com. You do not have to be a member to participate. A minimum $35 donation is suggested to reserve your reformer.

My senior dog, who can barely lie down, is still going up and down the stairs. He inspired me to attempt a teaser and a modified hand stand in the wilderness. Don’t let anything get in the way of your goals. You are stronger than you think.

Sunday Funday! Teaching classes in the morning with amazing students at Club Pilates, followed by a beautiful hike in Corona Del Mar at Buck Gulley. Pictures with snow and red leaves are from some 11 mile Park City hikes a couple of weeks back. Love my adventurous hiking buddy.

Happy National Daughter (& like a daughter) Day! Love you both & so proud of what each of you has accomplished. I can’t wait to see where your journeys take you. You each bring me so much joy & full my heart with love.
