Saltwater Buddha Maui

Everyday is Day in Hawai’i Nei…

So many sweet memories 🥹 of Lei Day 🌺 in Lahaina when my kids (now 21 + 19) were at King Kamehameha III Elementary (school over 100 years old lost in the 2023 fires).

We hope all of you can feel the ✨MANA (spiritual energy) of happy times watching May Day Ho’ike (shows) + making lei with loved ones in every bar of SOAP made with extra love ♥️

Happy Year of the Horse 2026! Today, February 17 th marks the first day of the Chinese Lunar New Year 🧧 + will last 15 days until March 3rd…

LUNAR NEW YEAR BATHING RITUAL 🛁:

🍊 Draw a warm bath filled with pomelo leaves 🍂 + orange peels. I have pomelo leaves on my property in Makawao, but suitable alternatives include grapefruit leaves, lime leaves or lemon leaves. These items symbolize cleanliness + good fortune.

🍊 Pomelo citrus is considered the MOST important type of 🍀 lucky fruit + the ROUND shape (our fav shape at Saltwater Buddha 🧼) of the orange is an auspicious symbol of +

🍊 Some believe that this SOAK will enhance + in the New Year!

*** TAKE NOTE: Avoid washing your hair or bathing on the 1st day of the new year! Chinese superstition says that May wash away good fortune!

💫 In this Year of the Horse, we wish all of our 🥥 Coconut Beauties peaceful bathing with aloha vibes and the strength to trust in the decision in which you want to head by stepping forward, committing + not looking back 🐴🐴🐴

Saltwater Buddha Maui was dreamt of + created in Lahaina, Maui…

When I began thinking about starting a business back in 2018, I started having real dreams about it. Watching how much my kids (then 13 + 11) enjoyed the creative process got me thinking about my Lani Girl (non speaking with autism). Since she loves to cook + bake, I thought this could possibly be a job for her + maybe some of their friends in the future.

Since my last post, the second anniversary (8/8/25) of the Maui wildfires came + went, the seasons changed and in between THIS HAPPENED…

OUT of the BLUE-

Kahealani + soap assistant never had seizures in her 18 years + then had 3 in less than a month. She was taken by ambulance to ER all 3 times. While I was so shaken up by this, my sweet love was so calm + brave through all the tests + pokes over the past few months, which are still continuing while we figure things out. This is my gratitude post to all of you…our heartfelt, kind + caring Saltwater Buddha Maui community (our beloved Coconut Beauties) for all the love after posting stories about her 💕💕💕

Making for you loves has actually been our saving grace through life’s unexpected turns + gives Lani a beautiful purpose! She really takes pride in making soap, always in the present! Having her alongside me as we make soap makes my heart happy… A DREAM

Happy Holidays loves!

xx,
Sheri
