Retinol stimulates cells below the surface to produce more collagen and speeds up the skin’s regenerative process. But beware of using retinol too close to your waxing appointment.

Retinol and any type of retinoid for that matter can make your skin much more sensitive. That’s also true for AHAs and BHAs. While I take extra care to provide a gentle touch, retinol makes your skin way more sensitive than usual.

Waxing takes away unwanted hair, but if you’ve used a retinol too recently, a wax strip may also take a little skin with it too.

This is a pretty big deal as this can cause burn-like symptoms and worst-case, some scarring. We don’t want you to have that look!

You don’t have to stop retinoids and actives forever! Just 7-10 days before your scheduled appointment.

If you are getting a facial wax, you should also avoid glycolic acid and lactic acid for five days prior. After waxing, you can use retinol products and actives again, but give your skin a few days to recover from the wax.

Remember, also mention if you have sensitive skin in general. We can always do a patch test and see how things go 🫶🏼
