I waxed a peach today and it proved what I tell my clients all the time:

1) Clean (gentle) = fewer bumps
Look for: glycerin, ceramides, niacinamide
(tea tree only if you’re not sensitive)
2) Exfoliate (smart) = fewer ingrowns
Look for: glycolic/lactic/mandelic + salicylic (for congestion) + urea (soft smoothing)
3) Hydrate (barrier-first) = less irritation
Look for: hyaluronic acid, squalene/jojoba, colloidal oatmeal/allantoin

One thing I learned over my 16 year career:
Most protocols we are trained or buy into are broadly generic, offering cookie cutter experiences.. and 9/10 times yielding no results.
Majority of estheticians follow them blindly because that is what they are taught to do.
A year ago I took protocols into my own hands and started writing my own based on real time issues I was seeing in my treatment room.
The skin tells a story, and I choose to listen to my clients concerns to understand.. not just respond with technical jargon to make myself *seem* educated.
