How did the nastiest smelling soap I ever made become one of my BEST SELLERS? 😩😂

Let me take you back…

My Rose Clay & Tea Tree Face Soap was never actually meant to be sold.

I originally formulated this bar for myself. At the time, I wasn’t concerned with making it pretty or making it smell amazing. I was focused on the ingredients I wanted in a facial bar, so I loaded it with rose clay, activated charcoal, tea tree essential oil, colloidal oatmeal, goat’s milk, coconut milk, honey, shea butter and even real silk.

Then one day at the farmers market, a customer approached me looking for something for her son’s skin.

I explained that I couldn’t make medical claims about what a soap could do, but I could tell her exactly what was in the bar and let her research those ingredients for herself.

And that little conversation changed everything.

What started as a soap I made for me, with absolutely ZERO intentions of ever selling it, eventually found its way onto my table… and somehow became one of the soaps you guys keep coming back for. 🤯

All these years later, I’m still making it.

Still not trying to make it smell like a bouquet of roses. 😂
Still packing it with the ingredients that made me formulate it in the first place.
And still amazed that my “nasty smelling little soap” became a RCDCessentials favorite.

So naturally, I made Pink Watermelon Conditioning Shampoo Bars. 🍉💕

No, but seriously though this restock has been on my to do list since mid Summer! And when I tell you this smells like SUMMER… ☺️

Juicy watermelon, fresh honeydew and just a little sugary sweetness. It smells like cutting into an ice-cold watermelon on a hot summer afternoon and getting that first sweet, juicy bite.

So yes, my fall candles are coming. 🍂
Yes, I’m excited about them.

But apparently a small part of me is still standing in summer saying, “Y’all go ahead… I’ll catch up.” 😂🍉

Wait… did I accidentally turn an entire fall day into a candle collection? 🍂🕯️

It starts with that First Sip of Fall… when the air feels a little different, the spices come out, and you just know your favorite season is on its way. ☕️🍎

Then you walk through the door and Something’s Baking… warm, sweet, pumpkiny goodness filling the house. 🥞

You change into something comfortable, settle in and Fall Into Cozy… soft cashmere, sandalwood and vanilla wrapping around the room. 🤎

And when the sun finally disappears?

It’s Autumn After Dark… warm spices, woods, pine and fallen leaves setting the mood for a crisp fall evening. 🍁🌙

I swear I didn’t plan the names this way. 😂
But somewhere between choosing the fragrances and naming them, these four candles stopped being individual scents and started telling a story.

A little birthday appreciation post because the people who helped make my 50th celebration so special deserve their flowers! 🥂🎂💕

First, a HUGE thank you to Cocoa Cakes Cakes for my absolutely beautiful birthday cake! 🎂 It was everything I hoped it would be, but let me tell you… it didn’t just LOOK good. It was a HIT! Everyone was raving about how delicious it was, and there wasn’t much left by the end of the night. 😂👏🏽

A big thank you to Publix Super Markets for taking one major thing off my plate by catering the food. And of course, I was enjoying myself so much that I completely forgot to take a picture of it! 🤦🏽‍♀️😂 The ribs were cooked to perfection, every side was delicious, and the platters I ordered with my vegetarian friends in mind were especially loved and appreciated. Everything made hosting at home so much easier.

And lastly, a special shoutout to Katherine’s Cocina LLC A while back I attended one of her charcuterie workshops, and apparently I was paying attention. 😂 I decided to put what she taught me to the test and create my own board for the party. I was a little nervous about tackling it myself, but that workshop gave me the confidence to say, “I can do this!” And I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. 🧀🍇🥰

One thing I know firsthand as a small business owner is how much a recommendation, a tag, or simply telling someone about a great experience can mean. So when people help make a special moment even better, I believe in giving them their flowers publicly. 💐

And yes, these are the good scraps. 😉 They’re a mix of soap shavings from all the handmade soaps I’ve made this year! The ones you already know and love. Leave them in the bag, add water, lather up, and use every last bit!

Rose Clay & Honey may sound soft and delicate, but this bar has a little more personality than you might expect.

The fragrance opens with bright mandarin, bergamot, and tangerine before giving way to juicy peaches, strawberries, and raspberries, all softened with a beautiful touch of white musk.

And the soap itself? That’s where things get really good. 😍

Made with real honey and rose clay, along with goat milk, buttermilk, colloidal oatmeal, kaolin clay, shea butter, and even real silk for the kind of rich, creamy lather that makes handmade soap so hard to go back from.

Sweet. Fruity. Creamy. A little luxurious.
