Yes, I get to be creative and help people feel beautiful, but some of the most meaningful moments have absolutely nothing to do with hair.

It’s the connection. The conversations. The gentleness. The opportunity to sit with someone, listen to their story, and sometimes even pray with them when they need it most.

This beautiful woman touched my heart in a way I’ll never forget. During our time together, she made me tear up not once, but probably four different times. She was battling a rare cancer and had been told she only had a few months left.

We talked about Jesus. We talked about her knowing that one day He would call her home, while also sharing how deeply she wanted more time here with her husband and her five grown children. I’ll never forget that conversation.

About a month after I saw her, she kept coming to my mind for a couple of days. I found myself wondering how she was doing, so I finally reached out to her daughter. That very same day, I learned that she had passed away. I just bawled.

I can’t say for certain why she had been so heavily on my heart, I mean I have an idea that I don’t take moments like that lightly because nothing is ever just a coincidence when you’re a believer. I’m grateful I listened to that prompting to reach out. 🤍

Experiences like this remind me that God can use us right where He has placed us. My chair isn’t just a place where I get to do hair. It’s a place where people can feel beautiful, heard, cared for, and prayed over.
