We set our hair in two ways! If your hair doesn't hold a curl, being aware of both ways is super important! Wet to Dry and Hot to Cool!
Must have Wet to Dry products:
Surface Protein Cream
Surface Awaken Mousse
Must have Hot to Cool product:
Surface Awaken Hairspray
The magic happens in the prep!
1. Wet to dry tips:
• Use Surface Protein Cream or Surface Awaken Mist as your leave in conditioner.
• Apply Surface Awaken Mousse roots to ends for added thickness also use Awaken Thickening Cream
• Be intentional with your blowdry or with how you set your hair if you are air drying. If you want more volume in your hair blowdry your hair with that in mind. Put your part where you want it or style your bangs how you want them.
** Make sure hair is completely dry before moving to the hot to cool steps**
• Once hair is dry if you want extra volume sprinkle in Surface Hair Push Powder at your roots and active by fluffing with your hands
2. Hot to cool tips:
• Apply Surface Awaken Hairspray roots to ends
• Use a little bit smaller curling iron than what you want the size of your curl to be
• Make sure the heat of the barrel touches the whole strand. Best tool to use is a wand curling iron and wrapping the hair. If you are capable of doing flat iron curls those work well too.
• Once curl is removed from the heat don't let it fall, hold it up with your hand to let it cool or pin it in place.
• Spray your hair with Surface Awaken Hairspray or Surface Curls Hairspray while it is setting
• If going for a combed out look use a wide tooth comb. If using your fingers make sure you Surface bassu oil or Surface Shaping wax on your hands as a barrier.
• Once curls look how you like spray them again with Surface Theory Hairspray and try not to touch your hair!
