The Pennsylvania State Police Troop F – Lamar Station, continue their investigation on the homicide of Wayne Leigh Rifendifer.

On August 19, 1981, at approximately 0815 hours, Rifendifer’ s body was found dumped over a slight embankment in a wooded area off Gottschall Road, Crawford Township, Clinton County near Ravensburg State Park.

This location is approximately 6 miles North of Interstate 80. Rifendifer was naked and had suffered a gunshot wound to the back of his head, and his ge****ls had been cut off.

It was believed that Rifendifer had been killed elsewhere and his body was dumped at this location.

At the time of his murder, Rifendifer was 30 years old, 5’9” tall, weighing approximately 130 pounds, dark brown hair, a full dark brown beard, green eyes, and had a chipped front tooth.

Rifendifer was a hitchhiker with a last known address of Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Through investigation, this homicide was linked to the homicide of Marty James Shook, which occurred on June 14, 1982 in Heber City, Utah.

Ballistics testing confirmed that both Rifendifer and Shook were killed using the same .38 caliber firearm.

In 2023, a podcast was created by Mark Spawn, a former Fulton City Police Chief and APB True Crime podcast host, detailing both homicides.
